Oversize Safety Pins: Love It or Hate It?

The memories I have of safety pinning my clothes all involve either a pesky fit issue or an impending wardrobe malfunction.

The memories I have of safety pinning my clothes all involve either a pesky fit issue or an impending wardrobe malfunction. That being said, I wasn't sure what to make of these pieces from Ann-Sofie Back. They are super cute and look amazingly comfy, but I'm on the fence about having a giant safety pin keeping my pants or blouse together. What do you think – would you make a statement with safety pins?

Trend Alert: Pin It

Move over studs, there's a new embellishment in town: safety pins.

Move over studs, there's a new embellishment in town: safety pins. These pins have broken out of their sewing kits and into our wardrobe via sparkly earrings, printed tops, bracelets, and slick blazers. America Ferrera feels me. Her Moschino crepe dress would be a safe LBD if it weren't for that amazing safety pin embellishment — such a burst of fun! How punk would you be if you DIY'd your own safety pin creation? All you need is a lot of safety pins and a little imagination. So what are you waiting for? Pin it.

Simply Fab: Violette's Pin-Up's Safety Pins

Here's yet another time when I say to myself: Why didn't I think of that?

Here's yet another time when I say to myself: Why didn't I think of that? Regular silver or gold safety pins are useful, but what about those times when you're not wearing silver or gold? Violette's Pin-Up's Safety Pins ($14 for 36 pins) have answered my question. There are black pins for LBDs, white for brides, ivory for those in ivory, and colored for a gal who's not afraid to wear brights. No offense to silver and gold safety pins, but these are way cooler.
