When asked who my fashion icons are, Sarah Jessica Parker is at the top of my list. The style-setter been a favorite even back in the 80s, but it's her role as Carrie Bradshaw that solidified her place in our fashion hearts as an innovator and risk taker. Now, even with her days on SATC behind her, SJP continues to wow as a leader of Halston, seriously styled mom, and all-around fashionable persona on and off the red-carpet. So, it seems only fitting that on her 46th birthday, we pay tribute to the trend-setter, rule-breaker, and fashion icon with a look back at 46 of her most memorable, enviable fashion moments. Click through to see them all and wish Sarah Jessica Parker a very Fab birthday!
Fret not Steve & Barry's shoppers, the store will live on. The company, who recently filed for bankruptcy, has been purchased by investment firm Bay Harbour Management for $168 million. We're not the only ones excited about the news. "I'm very pleased that Steve & Barry's will be able to continue to deliver on their mission and look forward to continuing our strong partnership," said Sarah Jessica Parker.
The majority of the 276 Steve & Barry's stores, which houses celebrity collections from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Venus Williams, and Amanda Bynes, will remain open. Whew, that was a close one!
Celebrities have become a designing powerhouse in their own right, and in 2007, more Fab faces joined the fray. Mary-Kate and Ashley added cool contemporary line Elizabeth and James; SJP launched the budget-friendly Bitten at Steve & Barry's; Gwen's little L.A.M.B. made a runway comeback; Lauren Conrad reached her dream of becoming a designer; and both Sienna Miller and Penelope Cruz teamed with their sisters to cull up some seriously sizzlin' clothes. Admittedly: some of them were hits and some were misses. You all know how much I look to Celebrity Style for inspiration, so here's to hoping 2008 brings just as many fun collaborations!
OMG. How exciting was it that Fab favorite SJP was the special guest on last night's Project Runway? I know we said that Bon Jovi was to be the special guest, and we apologize to any major fans of the man, but we'll take a SJP special guest judge any day.
Down to business: was Victorya Hong's bowed dress and vest your winning pick too? I have to admit I really liked the vest but the dress was a bit tent-like and the color fell flat. I actually really liked the cape from Elisa and Sweet P and the LBD (and beret!) by Kit and Chris. For those who second SJP's emotion and loved the winning look you can buy it tomorrow at Steve & Barry stores nationwide.
A stretch-cotton dress ($19.98) similar to Hong’s design is available at Steve & Barry’s stores beginning November 23rd in both black and burgundy, as is a separate plaid vest ($14.98) in grey/black. Exciting.

Sarah Jessica Parker was on the Today Show this morning dressed head to toe in her Bitten clothing line. Well, actually her shoes were not Bitten, as she shyly admitted. She said "um, don't ask about the shoes!" I would expect no less out of Miss Carrie Bradshaw herself. She was so cute, down to earth and so endearingly proud of her new line. Take a look for a Bitten fashion show and some great commentary by SJP herself!
It's been too long since I gave you an update on SJP's Bitten clothing line - but now there are several bits of news! First off, here are more images from the collection. Did anyone see SJP on Oprah last Friday? They did a little mini fashion show and while some of the pieces are admittedly a bit basic, the jackets, jewelry, and some single items look really fun and SJP-like. So, I think come June 7th we'll have another fashion frenzy on our hands.
Also! There is a contest to "Get Bitten" with SJP and three lucky winners will win a trip for two to NYC. BUT you have to print out the contest form and bring it into a Steve & Barry's store on June 7 before 11AM to enter. Lastly, check out this video where SJP talks about her Bitten manifesto with total enthusiasm and zest (love her!). And remember that SatC episode where she has her super fun book cover photo shoot? Well, the video has glimpses into another fun SJP photo shoot so enjoy!
Sarah Jessica Parker may be a lady of luxury, but she wants to bring fabulous clothing to the masses at affordable prices. Since we already know that her clothing line Bitten will be inexpensive (we're talking each article under $20), now we can all dress like SJP!
The collection was named after her reaction to walking into a Steve & Barry’s store for the first time - she was "bitten." She then decided to collaborate with them to create high-quality sportswear for women of all ages and sizes at a fair price.
It has been reported Bitten will make its official debut on June 7th, only at Steve & Barry's stores. The line will consist of approximately 150 styles and over 400 clothing items and accessories such as: knit shirts, wool and cashmere sweaters, dresses, lingerie, denim, handbags, jewelry, belts and of course...shoes!
The tagline for the collection is: "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right." I'll second that! This is just soooo exciting!
Yay, it's official! We have just learned from The Daily that Sarah Jessica Parker is set to launch a clothing line called Bitten. This afternoon she will be hosting a private luncheon at the famed Indochine restaurant in New York City, for an exclusive group of editors to take a sneak peek at her duds.
For those who have been lucky enough to previously view the collection, it is being compared to the fashion line developed by the Olsen twins called The Row.
I am sorry to report that I have no further details about price point, target audience, and manufacturer just yet but I promise to share every bit of information as I learn more.
What better woman, fashion icon and role model to design clothing of her own - this news is actually making me giddy! SJP recently accompanied Alexander McQueen to last year’s Costume Institute gala and she has been a muse to Oscar de la Renta and Narciso Rodriguez. In addition, in 2004, she was awarded the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards.
