September Issue 2012 Covers

It's the most wonderful time of the year: covers for the September 2012 issues are starting to trickle in, and the images on them are as captivating as expected.

As reported previously, Victoria Beckham is featured on the cover of Glamour, on which she wears little other than a tiara and the frothy bubbles from a bath. Katy Perry, clad in a pink Bottega Veneta dress and purple hair, is on the cover of Elle. Karlie Kloss has two September covers to her name this year: she's on the front of both Vogue UK (in printed pieces from Jonathan Saunders) and Vogue Japan (in one of the last garments Stefano Pilati designed for Yves Saint Laurent). Vanity Fair used a paparazzi photo of Kate Middleton, who it recently named to its International Best Dressed List, on its September style issue.

A look at those exciting covers, plus others that have debuted so far, here in the gallery.

As the ever-important September issues get closer and closer to the newsstand, more details have emerged about which celebrities will cover some of the industry's biggest magazines.

While some books will rely on tried-and-true stars to sell their issues — Vogue has recast Lady Gaga, and Jennifer Lopez will reprise her role as cover girl for InStyle — other magazines have selected newer talents. Cosmopolitan, for example, has photographed Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale for its September cover.

  • Erin Heatherton, face of Victoria's Secret's fitness line, VSX, has plenty of wellness tips but says she doesn't fret about what she eats. "You can't stress too much about it. I work out and I eat right and I can't be too hard on myself about making mistakes." [FitSugar]

Vogue Special Delivery

Ding-dong, Vogue special delivery.

Ding-dong, Vogue special delivery. Say what?! It's not every day one gets an urgent marked box from the fashion bible. Open, and find the hefty September issue encapsulated within a clear sleeve attached to handles. If you can manage to ignore the bewildering Keira Knightley on the cover, it's quite a cool gimmick. Since you probably can't fit all 798 pages in your handbag, no worries, just carry as-is. It's even protected from the elements — you know, PETA advocates and thunderstorms — with the vinyl overlay. In a dark time when fashion magazines are struggling to stay afloat, such shenanigans are sure to impress.
