Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos presented their Shipley & Halmos fall 2010 collection with intimate, pre-fashion week studio vistis. Focusing on the favorite items in a woman's closet, the designers presented clean wardrobe staples like pencil skirts that hit just below the knee (fall's new length), a leather varsity jacket, a see-through Breton tee, an ankle-length trench coat, silk blouses and dresses, and chunky hand-knit sweaters. The collection was an update on a girl's most-loved classics with just enough surprise to keep us interested, and to get us shopping. Click below for the complete fall 2010 lineup.

Fashion Week Tidbits: Gareth Pugh NY-Bound, Alexander Wang and Katie Grand Teaming Up, and Shalom Harlom Bartending at Organic
>> New York Fashion Week is less than a week away, and the tidbits are flowing freely — a compilation of the highlights from the past couple of days:
Double (or Triple) Duty Presentations
- Gareth Pugh confirmed that he will be showing a video directed by Ruth Hogben on Sept. 13 to "set the mood for [his] catwalk show that will take place as usual in Paris." After the private showing, he'll screen the short film in public nearby — get your name on the guest list via MAC's Facebook page. [Style File]
- Temperley London is taking their interactive Spring 2010 multimedia presentation on the road for the second time, starting in New York Sept. 15 before evolving in format for London Fashion Week and then again in Paris, where it will become an exhibit. The film aspect, plus stills and a behind-the-scenes cut will be readily available online on Temperley's new website.
People say the Fall 2009 season is all about styling and this trend--of wearing black turtlenecks under color--couldn't serve as a better example. This look adds drama and depth to outfits that might otherwise look flighty, out of season, or just too optimistic. It plays up that layered tidiness that we've been seeing so much of for the past few seasons and it makes something interesting out of classic separates.
Details emerge--including who wants to talk and who doesn't--on Karl Templer and Fabien Baron's departure from Interview magazine.
Pierre Berge, former partner of Yves Saint Laurent, has some unkind words for Cavalli, Versace, and the fashion industry at large.
Diane Von Furstenberg will design ten rooms at Claridge's; the five star art deco hotel located in the Mayfair district of London.
>> INVITATION ONLY — The boys from Shipley & Halmos and the girls from Vena Cava have partnered together to do some serious partying — or so the invitation to their joint after party would have it seem. The two duos posed for a tongue-in-cheek photo series featured on the invite that includes pizza, beers being shotgunned, a few beer bongs. [Material Interest, The Pipeline]
