This time she stepped out in a utilitarian shirt dress, one we love because of its menswear-gone-girlish vibe. It melds utility, functionality, and casual ease, and pairs best with ladylike footwear to counter the heavy pockets and structure. Try a pair of ballet flats like Olivia for now, then booties and tights later on.

We're in the midst of the Summer-to-Fall transition. To make it easier, I'd suggest a dress just like this Quiksilver Lost and Found Dress ($39, originally $78). The sweet gingham print isn't Summer-exclusive — in fact, I almost prefer the look with socks or tights and a Fab pair of your favorite booties or clogs. When this Theory Light Indigo Belted Shirt Dress ($275) first caught my eye, I was fantasizing about how to mix up the classic piece with sandals, boots, and statement belt. Clearly, I was too busy with my fantasy to realize that the pricey tag was about to deter my purchase. I know it's a classic, but I also know I can do better.

Hipretty proves that even the most super casual weekend can be posh with just a couple of snazzy items. I love how her tunic and black riding pants are comfy yet slick. However, my favorite thing about her outfit is her wrapped up hair scarf — superb!

Fab's a huge advocate of the ever-so-calculated disheveled chic look. While some scoff at the layers and mismatched pieces, we revel in them. We love how Ally Hilfiger created her own messy masterpiece with a striped shirt dress, trench, tights, and platform pumps. Hone in on her striped frock: not only do the vertical lines add length, they also evoke a posh, preppy feel — even when wrinkled.
Gogosushi has disheveled chic down. Her torn and tousled ensemble consists of a black sweater layered over a nude shirt dress — very loose and casual. Being the fashion expert she is, the stylista accessorized with a red silk scarf and belt for polished contrast. C-ute.

We were just obsessing over Whitney's Gucci Hysteria handbag ($1,395) — more on that later — and here she is flaunting it again. Beside her new hottie! Go Whitney. In front of the NYC Diane von Furstenberg store no less. Her black shirt dress is a proven classic but she Whitifies it with a vintage-looking brown belt, black t-strap pompom sandals (I appreciate the lower heel), and mixed jewelry. Try, try to focus on the classically redone outfit and not the two lovebirds — hard, I know.
Longtime Model Claudia Schiffer looks classic and chic at the launch for Shortlist Magazine. I like that her shirt dress has lace detailing and a black bow ribbon. She's smart to have kept the accessories to a minimum, as gaudy jewels would have killed the sweet look. She barely has any makeup on, yet she still manages to look so pretty. The woes of being beautiful!
