>> Zara just released its Spring 2011 lookbook featuring a suave Stella Tennant. Clean lines, bold colors, and a modern '70s appeal are highlighted in the way of long-sleeved shift dresses, wide-leg trousers, and A-line skirts. Check the slideshow to see more of Tennant in action.
Does Stella Tennant get better with age? The 40-something model brought her ageless beauty to Zara for its Spring/Summer '11 lookbook, showing how graceful and elegant the minimalist trend can be, particularly with pops of color. We love Zara for its sophisticated, fashion-forward pieces at prices we don't feel guilty about, and the Spring collection looks like it will be our go-to when we're craving white minimalism á la Celine or cute denim that calls to mind the Derek Lam runway. Click our slideshow to see Stella own the minimalism trend and Spring pieces you need to get as soon as they hit stores.
>> Chanel's current ad campaign spans three generations, and at the brand's couture show today, Karl Lagerfeld highlighted the idea that Chanel is for any age, tapping 40-year-old Stella Tennant to open the show and 45-year-old Kristen McMenamy to close. VIPs galore filled the front row: Kirsten Dunst, Ines de la Fressange, Pedro Almodovar, Karen Elson, Alexa Chung, Daphne Guinness, Diane Kruger, Vanessa Paradis, and Jerry Hall, plus Baptiste Giabiconi, who, for once, didn't walk the Chanel runway. As previewed yesterday, the collection was filled with black patent mule flats and tunic dresses over skinny pants, and at the end, Lagerfeld, joined by his bride McMenamy in a dress fitted with an embroidered train of thousands of gold beads, blew the audience a kiss.
>> John Galliano stuck to his staples for Spring 2011 Christian Dior couture — a retro silhouette, this time inspired by illustrator Rene Gruau, and perennial Dior face Karlie Kloss opening, introduced to the audience with a rotation of the set. Mario Testino, Stella Tennant, Lou Doillon, Pedro Almodovar, Patrick Demarchelier, and Azzedine Alaia were all front row to take in the show, and Galliano took his bow in a cropped black wig and red-striped black tuxedo pants. Backstage, Martha Streck Tweeted, the models — including Iekeliene Stange and Angela Lindvall, who both made appearances — had to pose for Demarchelier afterwards.
Gisele Bundchen for Isabel Marant, A Nude Freja Beha Erichsen for Chanel, Plus More of the Latest Spring 2011 Ad Campaign Images
>> Gisele Bundchen has turned up in another Spring 2011 campaign to pair with her only-girl Balenciaga: Isabel Marant. A first peek at that, plus new images of Bundchen for Balenciaga, a Chanel ad of Stella Tennant spraying a nude Freja Beha Erichsen with a hose — and more — in the gallery (NSFW).
We've already feasted our eyes on some of Spring 2011's superhot ad campaigns, and the second round of designer endorsements packs an equally sexy punch. Victoria's Secret vixen Erin Heatherton lent her smokin' bikini body to John Galliano's Lingerie and Swimwear campaign, fresh-faced Cara Delevingne modeled Burberry's chic offerings, and a spiky-haired Agyness Deyn clowned around in the ads for Culture Call's Spring collection. The Latest Spring 2011 Ads — Crystal Renn in Colorful Jimmy Choo, Plus Ralph Lauren, D&G, and More Chanel
>> In the latest round of Spring 2011 ad campaigns to pop up, Crystal Renn nabbed a starring role in Jimmy Choo's colorful, colorblocked set shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin; Baptiste Giabiconi sprays Freja Beha Erichsen and Stella Tennant in their Chanel suits with a water hose; and Ellen von Unwerth, who first found fame photographing Claudia Schiffer for Guess, is back for another round with the brand.
A First Peek at Terry Richardson's Photos of Tom Ford's Spring 2011 Womenswear Show with Beyonce, Lauren Hutton, and More
>> Terry Richardson was the only sanctioned photographer on hand for Tom Ford's Spring 2011 womenswear show, and the first of his photos from the event have finally popped up in Harper's Bazaar UK's January 2011 issue. There's Lauren Hutton in a tailored white suit and hat, Joan Smalls working a shredded organza shrug (with Ford's partner Richard Buckley, front row, caught taking the look in), Liya Kebede in a hand-painted floor-length fringed dress, and more.
With Inès de la Fressange, Elle Macpherson, Stella Tennant, and other prominent not-so-teenaged models walking the runways at Fashion Week for the last couple seasons, some people are now speculating that the more mature catwalker is here to stay. Since most of the people actually buying designer clothes are well out of their teens, having models with a little more life experience than your average 16-year-old clotheshorse makes sense. However, it's not like we're seeing tons of older women, and those we've seen have been very famous faces. Do you think the fashion and beauty industries will make a sustained effort to better represent women of all ages, or do you think bringing back supermodels from decades past is just a fad?
>> Ines de la Fressange, who was exclusively signed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1983 as the living embodiment of Chanel, and stayed that way until 1990, when she broke her contract over an argument with Lagerfeld in which he proclaimed he didn't want to 'dress a monument,' is back in good graces at the house. “She is beyond stunning,” Lagerfeld said of de la Fressange. “Also, she is the Parisienne.” The 53-year-old is set to walk the Chanel runway on Oct. 5; she will then appear in the subsequent Chanel Spring 2011 campaign alongside 39-year-old Stella Tennant and 22-year-old Freja Beha Erichsen, to be shot in the south of France.
