Lanvin created a Garden-of-Eden-inspired dinner party to feature their Spring 2012 collection, set to the beat of 18-year-old music artist Maxine Ashley's latest single, "Cookieman." The video, shot by Steven Meisel, has a similar energy and quirkiness as their Fall 2011 video, which featured Raquel Zimmermann and Karen Elson dancing in a house. That video went viral and spawned a fun fashion week version. This time, it's rising star model Aymeline Valade who looks ultra glamorous while draped in Lanvin's gorgeous dresses, as well as snakes — both real and in jeweled form. >> For the first time ever, Nicolas Ghesquiere has released behind-the-scenes footage from a Balenciaga shoot — the Fall 2011 campaign shoot, which was styled by Marie-Amelie Sauve and captured by Steven Meisel in both a New York studio and a Harlem church. The video, featuring new Balenciaga faces Liya Kebede, Liisa Winkler, and Julia Nobis, is the first to come of many Balenciaga videos. When the brand relaunches their website later this week, it will feature 200 videos (and more than 3,000 photographs). “It’s important to be able to show things in movement,” Ghesquiere explains, adding that he plans to tap "visual artists" and famous photographers to produce more short movies for the site. A short film by Meisel, showcasing the Balenciaga Resort 2012 collection, is due to go live on the site shortly.

So we cast Gertrud [Hegelund], Zuzanna [Bijoch], Daphne [Groeneveld], Fei Fei [Sun], Nyasha [Matonhodze], and Anais [Pouliot], a bunch of beautiful cars, we cast Richard as the chaffeur and various dogs, and came out here to Brooklyn. I think it's a very classic scenario — of course it suggests travel, and it's definitely luxurious. But I think we gave it a fresh and kind of modern, sometimes a little bit naughty, tongue-in-cheek sort of spin."

Goldstein has been a free agent for years, and noted that taking a masthead title and “being more of a part of a magazine, which is something I’ve never done, is very exciting to me.”

She continued: “What’s so great about what I’m doing in being style editor at large it’s kind of like I get to encompass everything I love to do. I’ve always been one of those people that goes back and forth in this business in different ways, so I get to really do great fashion stories with Edward and I’m also going to be working with [editor at large] Lynn Hirschberg and bringing fashion into the element of the actors that we shoot and kind of being the thread through all the different areas.”

Goldstein will work exclusively for W and can't work for competitors (ie other American fashion monthlies) but can work for non-direct competitors like Vogue Italia if given approval by W editor Stefano Tonchi. Tonchi said in a statement: “I have an incredible amount of respect for Lori, and admire her imagination and impeccable taste. Even on a freelance basis, Lori has been an integral part of the new W. She has styled some of our best covers, including Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, Mia Wasikowska, and January Jones. Given the recent expansion of W’s fashion team, I thought it was the perfect moment in time to formalize this relationship."

With Goldstein now in the W fold, is it possible that her frequent collaborator Steven Meisel might also become a regular contributor to the magazine? “We will see,” she replied coyly.
