Lately, we've been downsizing — our earrings, that is. A cool pair of studs is all we want, and we don't need to worry about taking them out or changing them. Check out our editor picks for the best studs — some sweet, some tough, some quirky, all irresistible.

The Covet List: Alexander McQueen Clutch

The Piece: Alexander McQueen Clutch
The Investment: $1,495
Why We Covet: It's badass. I mean, really badass. The green leather clutch, perfect for black-tie and red-carpet events, has that surprise kick of being covered in gold studs and a gold skull that's been encrusted with Swarovski crystals. It's unusual, attention-getting, cool, but beautiful. And in 20 years your kid will be rifling through your closet and say, "Hey, Mom, that clutch is way too cool for you. Can I have it?" To which you, obviously, say no.

Sneak Peek! Gorjana's Spring '11 Belts and Bags Are Stud-tastic
We were smitten with Gorjana's leather studded bracelets, and now we have more to love — the delicate studs have made their way onto handbags and belts for Spring '11! Card holders, hobos, quilted crossbody bags, and single and double belts are all dressed up via gold or silver dots. If you're into serene hues, go for the grays, light pinks, and tans. Bold gals will love hot yellow, turquoise, and orange. Personally, I'm drooling over the quilted crossbody bags — too cute. Enter to see more from Gorjana's Spring '11 collection.
The Bags to Have: BCBGeneration Studded Crossbody Bag
The first thought that came to mind when I discovered these adorable BCBGeneration Studded Crossbody Bags is: I want to eat them up! Not only are they the perfect little bag for Summer, but they're also easy on the wallet — they went from $88 to $66 to now $43. Not too bad, right? And the different sized studs are super fresh; the pyramid design reminds me of Vena Cava's signature pyramid cutouts. Depending on your style, you can get it in sunset, white, canary, or black. Throw one over any outfit for instant wow-appeal.

Brave Beltworks — A Little Soft, A Lot Tough
Leather lovahs, say hello to a leather accessories line that's sturdy in design, strong in convictions. Brave Beltworks is a Canadian brand whose products are all made in the country in safe, clean environment, ethical ways. Beyond that, their selection offers a little soft, and a whole lot of tough. For the softies, there's a dope Cork Belt Collection ($55) and Skinny Bow Belts ($60). For the toughies in the house, there's a sea of studded belts and cool-chick leather cuffs, seen below. There's even a bunch of dog collars for your tough-cookie pup. Did you hear that, Pet?
Love It or Hate It? Kreme Edgy Black Pillow
Much like the Diesel Home collection, the Kreme Edgy Black Pillow ($85-$150) translates the rough, rock star fashion aesthetic into the world of interiors with a bit of studded trim and black fabric. Also lined with cheerful pom poms, this pillow is a bit of a conundrum. Is it "bad" or is it "good"? What do you say: yea or nay?

Trend Alert: Studly Blazers
Nicky Hilton doesn't need an excuse to look fashionably on-trend. While running errands in LA, the cutie showed off her bad-to-the-bone side in a studly blazer by H&M. Yes, it's in your face and actually kinda amazing. These hard-core embellishments make a huge statement with any outfit, so make sure your accompaniments are clean and streamlined a la Nicky. Here's an idea: try it out as a DIY. All you need is a Bedazzler and a black blazer — done and done. Or, check out your local H&M after work today . . .
Best of 2009: Trend of the Year
Our favorite trends of the year revolve around two body parts, while one can be splattered anywhere on the body. Intrigued? Legs got a lot of attention with the emergence of sexy over-the-knee boots, denim's distressed revenge, and the reemergence of leggings. Meanwhile, shoulder love continued to flourish via shoulder pads and sharp outerwear — specifically, the Michael Jackson-esque drummer jacket. Lastly, studs continue to deliver edge and sass to clothing, shoes, and bags. Which trend did you follow the closest in 2009?
