A real stylist has a kit packed to the brim with unexpected crisis solvers that your even your average editor would find perplexing or unrecognizable. But a few tricks of the trade should make their way into every wardrobe just in case the unthinkable happens. Our stylist kit for the non stylist is admittedly comprehensive but you can easily pick and choose. And yes we included a survival kit because it can be a jungle out there.
A while back, I interviewed Angelina Jolie's stylist Jennifer Rade. I recently ran into her again at a Marciano event, and she had lots more to say about "Angie." Jen had just flown in from NYC, where she worked with Angelina on her Changeling red carpet look. She and the actress dreamed up the custom-made Versace LBD together. So why did Angelina play it safe? Jen explained that while most people only have a strong eye, a strong jawline, or a strong lip, Angelina has them all.
Therefore, she wears minimal, classic clothing that lets her features shine. Makes sense. Jen has suggested frillier frocks to her client, but to no avail. She even pulled a colorful cocktail dress from the closest rack and we agreed it would be too busy for Angelina. Now if only the actress had been there to put in her two cents!
