When you find something that works for you sartorially, you have to hang on to it; whether it's a hemline, color combination, or favorite silhouette, some signature styles are just too good to abandon. >>Tyson Beckford says Linda Evangelista's famous pronouncement about '90s-era supermodels not waking up "for less than $10,00 a day" helped him — and other models of his time — make "silly" amounts of money.
Beckford explained in a recent interview that some of his paychecks were so large, they were almost comical.
"I once walked in a fashion show — literally, just walked — for no more than a minute or two and they paid me a silly amount of money . . . $40,000," Beckford said. "I was like, 'Really? You don't have to give me that!' You know when Linda said that it set the bar for every other model — everyone just upped their day rates. It was hilarious. All the models — women and men — were like, 'Remind me to send Linda flowers!'"
Beckford also said that paychecks weren't the only things in the '90s modeling industry that were over the top.
"The fashion industry was so different back then. I guess it was all so new and so extravagant," he said. "The budgets were enormous; it was certainly a lot more fun. The parties were out of control and because no one had a camera phone and there was no Facebook or Twitter, you could do whatever you wanted with whoever you wanted."

Cindy Crawford is a supermodel legend, and it looks like the iconic beauty might be gearing up for a comeback. The iconic 45-year-old beauty just graced Vogue Mexico's May cover looking hot as ever in a Burberry leather biker jacket, lingerie, and smooth 'do. No doubt, she's still got "it", but do you think she's going to make a full supermodel resurrection? Check out the slideshow of her most recent work over the past few years, and then tell us what you think.
You saw her grace Emmanuelle Alt's first cover as editor in chief of French Vogue, now you can peep Gisele's rugged, sexy wanderlust wardrobe — and insanely perfect beach hair — in an editorial that was also shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Click through to see the dreamy pics.
Natalia Vodianova first won our hearts with her delicate, ethereal presence, personified through her piercing blue eyes and wispy frame. At yesterday's Hakaan show during Paris Fashion Week, a powerful, muscle-toned Natalia strode the runway in a fitted black leather minidress. It looks like she's been hitting the gym when not donning sexy lingerie for photo shoots. What do you think of this new Natalia? Do you prefer her delicate and soft or jacked and fierce?
Now that they're engaged, it's even more interesting to see Anja Rubik and Sasha Knezevic get all hot and smoldering for this Russian Vogue editorial, photographed by Alexi Lubomirski. The insanely gorgeous couple look like they're on the run (whilst dressed in Spring '11 Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci, of course), driving through a desert landscape in a vintage Cadillac. It's almost like a fictional part deux to Anja's H&M magazine spread, where Anja posed in a desert landscape and a rugged, sexy Sasha made a cameo appearance, this time on a horse. If only editorials were real, this would be one hell of a story. Click the slideshow to see supermodel love in action.
