We all have old sweaters in our closets that don't get much use, so we were on a mission to find a way to repurpose those pieces and make them stylish and new again. We decided to give our knit a little flair with an embellished collar made out of studs and rhinestones. It's really easy, and a simple way to transform something you already own — plus, it feels entirely festive for the holiday season. Watch on to see how it's done! 'Tis the season of slouchy sweaters and chunky knits, but wearing your favorite cozy pieces time and time again can cause them to get fuzzy pillings all over. Today, we're going to show you four simple ways to rid your garments of those pesky pillings in a flash. From a sweater comb to a sweater stone to a powerful shaver, one of these easy tricks can be used to keep your sweaters looking clean all winter long. On Allison: Topshop top.
Among our Fall cravings, a chunky, soft knit we can snuggle up in is practically an essential. This season, we're particularly drawn to the ones grandpa used to wear — albeit injected with a dose of cool a la Isabel Marant. It's the comfy functionality we're after with quintessentially cool Fall style elements like great prints, rich textures, and sweet toggles to liven up our denim and top off our layers. It's officially sweater weather, and that means bundling up in lots of chunky cable knits and cozy cashmere. But it doesn't have to stop with cardis and crewnecks, take a cue from your cold-weather wardrobe and soften up your home with some of these sweater-inspired pieces in toasty muted hues. I'm smitten with Ferm Living's Tall Knitted Vase ($52) and CB2's Knitted Pouf ($80), but really they all warm my heart. Click on the images above to do some homey sweater shopping.
I know you have a sweater or two that has been sitting in your closet collecting moth balls. Dust them off between today and the 12th, take them to your local Banana Republic and get 30 percent off one regular-priced sweater. Sorry cashmere lovers, this excludes the 100 percent cashmere sweaters. There's also a three-sweater limit, even if you donate more.
Banana will donate your sweater to Goodwill so that someone less fortunate can make use of it. When all is donated and bought, you'll feel warm and fuzzy on the inside and out. Aw!
Just gazing at this cozy Vintage Ivory Sweater makes me want to brave the Winter cold. Okay, not really, but it does make me wish for colder weather so I can show it off. It looks nice wrapped up or let loose. Doesn't it remind you of Stella McCartney's Fall 2007 collection?
The current bidding price is at $9.99 and the auction ends next Sunday, November 11. Good luck and happy bidding!
When Fall rolls around, I just can't get enough of sweaters. And this Sonia Rykiel Striped Tie Sweater, available for $358 here, has almost everything I look for in a cute knit top. I love the close fit, the 3/4-length sleeves, the banded waist, and the retro stripes. Plus, the dark black-and-blue color palette is very in right now. It's really the perfect sweater, except for one small thing. Seriously, what is up with that necktie? I understand this is trying to be playful, but I think it's trying too hard. In fact, I might even pay $358 to have the tie removed. What do you guys think? Love it or hate it? Tell me below!
A few of my friends have started having babies recently. Since this is a relatively recent phenomenon for me, I am pretty clueless about buying baby gifts and I am always looking for cute ideas. Here is one I thought was cool and wanted to pass along. LA based knitwear designer Suss Cousins has taught many in Hollywood to knit and helped to make knitting so chic. Suss' latest is designing infant sweaters for celebrity clientele. These darling sweaters were made especially for Shiloh and Suri. Shiloh's adorable sweater was inspired by sisterhood. The two faces on the sweater are Shiloh's brother and sister. Suri's sweater features "S" for Suri.
Suss' sweaters retail at her boutique from $89 to $109. You can also purchase them online here.
