>> INSIDER WIRE —2009 is already shaping to be a big year for Scott "The Sartorialist" Schuman. His first major ad campaign, for DKNY Jeans, recently debuted for the Spring 2009 season, and today he announced his first book deal with Penguin for 500 pages of images. The book is set to be published in Sept. 2009, as a paperback and limited-edition "bespoke" version simultaneously, and will include coverage of London, Paris, Dublin, plus a few cities in Australia and the United States. Isaac Mizrahi has finally arrived at Liz Claiborne after spending six years designing for Target. The brand has been waiting for almost a year to have Mizrahi come on board...and it must have been a long one. Back in January of 2008 Claiborne's Chief Executive told USA Today, "It is certainly no secret that the brand has been lacking a clear and cohesive vision and has languished as a result.".
Tracy Feith will be Target's 15th Go International guest designer. The range will include approximately 60 styles, making it much larger than most capsule collections at Target.
The Observer reports that women have stopped wearing form fitting sweaters in favor of security blanket-like cardigans and wraps. The story is about a thousand words too long if you ask us, but yeah.
MTV has decided not to release a controversial television show, called Model Maker, aimed at making young women into models by asking them to lose weight. Today Darryl Roberts takes us through the roller coaster ride of disapproval.
Sarah Palin's designer clothing will be given to charity when the campaign is over. More than anything we want a break down of just what this woman is wearing, because we're not seeing what Andre Leon Tally is seeing.
Lauren Hutton, who is the face of Mango's Fall 08 ad campaign, has also signed on to be the poster gal for Elizabeth and James--the line designed by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. To top it all off, we saw her photo on the Sartorialist yesterday. The woman is back.
Target deals with the economy by looking at their sourcing and other ways to drive the prices down. The company, who operates well over one thousand stores in the United States, does not plan to expand overseas just yet. If and when they do, it is said that they will start at our borders in Mexico and Canada.
Here's what she's wearing:
- Dress: Victoria's Secret
- Shoes: Steve Madden
- Bag: Franchi Collection
