Few designers have a style as distinct and instantly recognizable as Trina Turk's. Known for a love of colorful prints and midcentury mod, Trina channels another era through a totally original and modern lens. A peek into Trina's Instagram feed reveals myriad sources of inspiration behind her clothing and home line: a flea-market treasure, a collection of textiles in San Miguel de Allende, the architecture of her beloved Palm Springs, CA. More interesting, however, is the joie de vivre that Trina embodies no matter where she goes or what she does. It comes through each and every photo, and it is down right contagious. Trina Turk Patterns Add a Relaxed California Elegance to M-Edge Cases
The bright graphics of Trina Turk clothing have found a new home in M-Edge line's of tech hardware cases. The zigzag, trellis, and botanical prints that make up the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" ($60), iPhone 5 ($40), iPad 2 to 4 ($60), and laptop (price TBD) cases stopped us in our tracks at CES. Take a look at the patterns that just may have you dreaming of California even on a Winter day.

>>You've seen the pictures from Wednesday evening's event — now here's a video that will make you really wish you were there. Put together by Swarovski — who is underwriting the awards for the 11th year in a row now — the video reads like a who's who of the industry. Among those who make cameos? Well, there's Carolina Herrera, Johan Lindeberg, Narciso Rodriguez, Rachel Roy, Rebecca Minkoff, Peter Som, Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg, Pamela Love, Stefano Tonchi, Virginia Smith, Garance Doré, and Scott Schuman — just to name a few. There's also lots of head-nodding, air-kissing, champagne-drinking, and general good times being had all around.

Clean Up With Trina Turk For Alice Supply Co.
Übercute cleaning tool company Alice Supply Co. has just launched an exclusive line of housewares and tools featuring the distinctive designs of Palm Beach-style purveyor Trina Turk! Today through Monday, Aug. 29, the collection is on sale at Design/Story (sign up to shop if you're not a member) and includes a tape measure, dust brush, scissors, hose, ping-pong paddle, dust pan, and tool box, ranging from $8 to $65 (down from $10 to $82). The groovy prints include an abstract blue and green pattern and a mod orange and yellow link/trellis design.
If I had a ping-pong table, I'd be all about that cheerful paddle; I bet Jonathan Adler would love to have those for his own paisley ping-pong table. Anything but the garden hose would make a lovely addition to my own city apartment. That said, I think Alice Supply Co.'s own cheerful designs are equally chic and as adorable as Trina Turk's!

Trend Alert: Purple Metallic
Nothing says glam rock like purple metallic. A small slice of it — see Anna Kendrick's shoes — is otherworldly cool. Her ruched Elise Øverland LBD is pretty rockin', but her Jimmy Choo "Darcy" sandals make it. If it weren't for the dark jolt of color, her outfit would have been ordinary red carpet fare. There are many purple metallic options, sing it loud or sing it softly. Either way, rock the night away.
