>> Marc Jacobs has taken the stage for many a reason in the past — usually it involves accepting an award — but last night, it was to sing backup to Donna Summer at the opening of Louis Vuitton's new store on Bond Street in London. “It was fun — but I think I’ll stick to my day job,” he quipped.

Jacobs celebrated with the likes of Stella Tennant, Bernard Arnault, Carine Roitfeld, and Natalia Vodianova, and opened up about his recent hair transplant, which had him avoiding press and cameras at the Costume Institute Gala earlier this month. "I was starting to thin on top. I can’t dye it for a while, so this is my natural colour.”

He also hinted that the Louis Vuitton logo that he has helped make so ubiquitous almost got squelched way back when he first started at the brand: "When I arrived at Louis Vuitton 12 years ago, and I was figuring out how to create a new tier of Vuitton for a different customer, I thought it would be clever to hide that monogram, which was very stupid of me. That logo is part of what makes the Vuitton so desirable. It allows people to become members of an aspirational club."

Logos are to be expected, but not Louis Vuitton couture — Jacobs says he has no desire to launch such a collection. “Some of what we already do at ready-to-wear is pretty much at couture level, anyway."

>> Karlie Kloss was just in her hometown of St. Louis this past weekend, where she revealed that while she's on the catwalk, she can often hear front rowers' entire conversations. But yesterday, she was back on set in New York, shooting with Patrick Demarchelier and Anna Jagodzinska for Donna Karan's Fall 2010 campaign — which marks the brand's 25th anniversary — against a backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.

>> It's rare for a model to score an only-girl Teen Vogue cover —the most recent one that comes to mind is Gemma Ward's February 2006 cover for the magazine — but Karlie Kloss has done just that with the May 2010 issue of Teen Vogue.  17-year-old Kloss racked up more than more than 150,000 airline miles in the last year, scored the finale spot in Jason Wu's show for the last four seasons running — "She's my lucky closer," the designer says — and has been tapped by many as the next heir to the supermodel throne.

But Karlie is still "just Karlie," one of her friends from home in St. Louis says. She has made sweets for Teen Vogue's Amy Astley and Alexander Wang, the latter who says: "She baked me peanut butter cookies when she came in for her fittings." And she's always accompanied by an adult — her English teacher came with her to the Paris couture shows last Summer, and her Uncle Keith, who Karlie describes as a "big bodyguard" type, has traveled with her as well. "I need that support," Karlie told Teen Vogue. "I don't want to be on my own yet. I'm not ready for that."

Kloss idolizes Christy Turlington and eventually wants to get "some sort of medical degree. Something that would allow me to visit third-world countries and help children."  But when it comes to what she looks for in a boyfriend, another supermodel's tastes come to mind: "If Tom Brady ever becomes single, or if he has a brother, or someone Tom Brady-ish . . ." She smiles and adds with a wink, "Don't tell Gisele."

>> Victor Demarchelier's first solo New York show, "Creating Images," opens today at Clic Gallery, featuring 20 pieces taken over the past few years. Demarchelier, son of Patrick Demarchelier, describes the mostly black-and-white collection as "very personal" — works included range from a still-life shot of his childhood teddy bear to a number of topless photos of Caroline Trentini, his girlfriend of three years, of whom he says: “I’ll tell her about a shot before we go to the studio and then two out of three times she says ‘No.’”

Victor, 25, who has photographed for Vogue Paris, Interview, and 25, only minimally retouches his images: “I like when they’re rough. I don’t always spot them; that way they’re more like a piece of art. The accidents can be beautiful, too.”  And he currently shares a studio space in Chelsea with his father.  “We like to talk to each other while the other one is shooting. Sometimes we definitely get on each other’s nerves,” he laughs.
