Clover Canyon Takes Us on a Free Trip to Ireland
For Clover Canyon's Fall 2014 collection, creative director Rozae Nichols took us to the Ireland of William Butler Yeats, Oscar Wilde, and James Joyce: a greener-than-green land brimming with rolling hills and witty prose. How did this viewpoint of the Irish spirit translate to the print-happy brand's clothes? With patterns that deconstructed rustic country vistas, Celtic crests, and medieval spires. There were also some engineered heritage tartans and prim laser-cut collars to bring the message home. One key piece, a slinky stained-glass sequin robe, was also a perfect mix-and-match offering.
While past presentation viewings gave us an urge to go out, this mashup — complete with a few cable-knit cardigans — made us want to find a fire-warmed room, a cold stout, and a good book.
