Fab Flash: Announcing The 2007 CFDA Award Winners!

Ellen Barkin hosted last night's Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards in NYC. The event, which Council President Diane von Furstenberg made sure started on time, was attended by celebrities such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kate Bosworth, Heidi Klum, and Debra Messing, among others, as well as by top designers and fashion insiders.

Oscar de la Renta and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler tied for Womenswear Designer of The Year while Ralph Lauren took home the prize for Menswear Designer of the Year.

As you know, I love the color purple, so naturally, I really like Debra's purple halter frock. It's everything a gorgeous gown should be: long, buttery and regal. I love the ruched detailing at the waist and the luxurious train. What do you think of it?

Selita looks beautiful! Very fresh, and I love her hair pulled back! I don't really like the pearlized sheen of her dress - it makes it look a little tacky, but the color is good on her! What do you all think?

Who is this disco queen and what has she done with hot mama Heidi Klum? There are too many things I dislike about this dress; the drab brown color, the cheesy glitter, the one-shoulder, the ruched draping and the list goes on. What do you think?

Yikes, Mary-Kate! I love the white dress alone, but then the red and purple bag clashes with it. And let's be honest, the hairdo doesn't really help. I thought we were making progress when you dyed your hair back to blonde! Sadly, I was wrong. What do you all think?

Oh, Kate; are you 74 or 24? The actress looks so old lady in her knee-length feathery frock. It does absolutely nothing for her. And those matronly pumps don't even match! Do you agree?

2007 CFDA Awards: Chloe Sevigny

Chloe is well, just always in a league of her own. Even at fashion events, I can't look at her outfit the same way I would look at anyone else's. That said, this is not one of my favorite Chloe outfits. The lipstick is not the right color of red for her, the gold, teal, and pearl earrings are too much even with a black dress, and the dress doesn't fit her well. What do you all think?

As always, Ashley looks sleek and chic. I am in lust with her black blazer dress! It is incredibly innovative and demurely sexy. Her metallic cuff and white clutch are also genius. Bravo Ashley; you are a true fashion maven!

FabSugar Designer of the Year Nominee: Doo.Ri

Whether this designer wins FabSugar Designer of the Year or not, 2006 was definitely a plentiful year for Doo.Ri. This new designer won both the Perry Ellis Award for emerging talent in womenswear and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in the past year and based on your response to her Spring '07 collection she may have a third win coming her way.

Doo.Ri has a rags-to-riches story. In 2001, Doori Chung started promoting her label, Doo.Ri, at her downtown New York store Klee. She debuted on the runway for Fall 2003. Before receiving much-needed funding, she had been creating out of the basement of her parents’ New Jersey dry-cleaning store. Then poof! Doori received an Ecco Domani award and then the aforementioned awards. Editors and shoppers alike adore her designs for their interesting architectural details and she works primarily with jersey - the ever-flattering fabric. Her finishing touches are chains that close a dramatically plunging back line and leather bands that cinch the waist. So where is Doo.Ri designing from now? A spacious, light-filled Manhattan work space. Nice.
