Since most of you weren't fans of Alicia Keys's red carpet accessories, what did you think about her performance hair later that night? Personally, I've gotta give the gal credit for always switching it up and testing out new styles. The trio featuring this songstress (alongside Queen Latifah and Kathleen Battle) was one of my favorite medleys of the night, and Alicia's slick braid stood out, too.

Last night's looks from the American Music Awards were very much your standard red carpet fare - wavy curls from the likes of Taylor Swift and Christina Aguilera or loose updos à la Miley Cyrus. Pretty? Yes. Daring? Not really. However, there were a few ladies that lived up to a more rock-and-roll style. Ashley Tisdale wasn't quite as edgy, but her twisted side ponytail was different and chic, while the others played up short asymmetric styles. Rihanna curled it up, Natasha Bedingfield pieced it out, and Pink did a little of both. I'm liking this slightly off-kilter look - it is the music biz, after all.

Rihanna and Chris Lead the Press Room Pack

After receiving their honors up on stage, the winners at last night's American Music Awards headed over to the press room with their scary dangerous trophies. Taylor Swift, Jordin Sparks and Rihanna posed with their prizes, while big winner Chris Brown looked like he had a hard time managing his haul. Paris Hilton wasn't taking anything home, but that didn't stop her from striking a few poses for the waiting cameras. Mariah Carey looked the happiest of all the evening's honorees, with one arm holding her statuette and the other around her husband Nick Cannon.

The AMAs Brought Many a Medley and a Few Trophies, Too

After the ladies and men showed off their red carpet styles, they headed into the Nokia Theater for the American Music Awards last night. The show started off with an exciting medley from Christina followed by a performance from the New Kids on the Block that you guys are split on. Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and the Jonas Brothers represented the industry's young blood while Coldplay, Kanye, Mariah and Alicia Keys with Queen Latifah were also crowd pleasers. Justin Timberlake played special guest while Miley celebrated her Sweet 16 between awards - check out all the winners here. There were so many great performances to choose from but our favorite act of the night goes to Beyonce, who clearly brought Sasha Fierce to the stage.

The Ladies Sparkle and Shine For AMAs Red Carpet!

The ladies mixed it up with sparkles on the red carpet at last night's American Music Awards - check out how to get some of the looks. Miley Cyrus looked great and is winning for best dressed in her gold and black mini dress on her 16th birthday! Christina quickly walked the red carpet before kicking off the show with her medley of hits while Rihanna found a way to pull off a dress not everyone could. As usual Sarah Silverman kept it casual to support the night's host and her possibly on again boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel. The Boys Showcase Signature Styles on the AMA Red Carpet

The guys were left to their own devices on the red carpet at the American Music Awards last night, but there weren't many surprises. Boy bands NKOTB and the Jonas Brothers never miss an opportunity to show off their formal wear, while Nick Lachey got suited up to publicly pose with Vanessa. Chris Brown mixed funky and classy with his leather jacket and bow tie, while Kanye and his tail managed to stand out without getting dressed up. Announcing the Winners: The 2008 American Music Awards

Chris Brown, Rihanna, and Kanye West were among the big winners Sunday at the American Music Awards. Brown took home the biggest prize of all, winning Artist of the Year by beating out Lil Wayne, Coldplay, the Eagles, and Alicia Keys. It was one of three awards for Brown, who also won Favorite Male Artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories.

Rihanna was Brown's female counterpart, taking home Favorite Female Artist awards in the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. Kanye was another double winner, named Favorite Male Artist in the rap/hip-hop category and also winning the Favorite Album award in that category for Graduation. Alicia Keys' As I Am was named Favorite Album in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories.

The night was also kind to American Idol winners, with Carrie Underwood winning Favorite Album in the country category for Carnival Ride and Jordin Sparks winning Favorite Artist in the Adult Contemporary category. American Music Awards: Best Dressed

Today's musical bests came out for the American Music Awards, and several of them did so in style. There wasn't a lot of color or drama, but detailing and shimmer made up for it. Taylor Swift looked sweet in a beaded one shouldered dress, while Alicia Keys looked exotic in navy and a bindi. Miley was age appropo and gilded in her black and gold draped dress. Pink went for high drama in an asymmetrical Vivienne Westwood gown, while Sarah Chalke was paired down perfect in a satin Dolce & Gabbana LBD. We have quite a nice range here, but who made you swoon?
