How Clean Is Your Beach?

If you're heading to the beach soon to beat the Summer heat, you might want to see how clean it is. Recently, we learned that playing in the sand can increase your risk of developing gastrointestinal ailments, and the water might not be too clean either.

The National Resource Defense Council just released its annual report on the cleanliness of our beaches, and unfortunately some did not pass muster. Let's start with the top ranked beaches based on water quality and frequency the water is tested - the cleanest are in California, Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes), and New Hampshire. The dirtiest are in the Northeast and Florida. Both water and sand become polluted from runoff water that drains into the ocean after a storm. The runoff collects pesticides, pet waste, road grease, etc., and all this ends up in the water. The polluted water can lead to a variety of health problems from skin rashes to neurological disorders.

You can check out your beach with this NRDC chart or this interactive map from the Environmental Protection Agency. Unfortunately, with budget shortfalls in most states, the beaches are not being monitored as closely as they once were. Just remember to steer clear of the beach after a heavy rainstorm.

Target is on fire, and there are no firefighters around to put out the flames! As a follow-up to its first in-house Target GO International Private Label Spring collection, the company has come out with a Summer collection set to hit stores June 29. The collection of bikinis, one-shoulder ruffled tops, volume-sleeve tunics, and floral-print rompers will set you back a mere $14.99 to $44.99. Layering continues to be a significant trend. I don't know about you, but I'm digging all the vibrant floral patterns. What a fresh interpretation of the moody floral trend.

Sneak Peek! Lauren Conrad's Summer in the City Collection

Is it me or does Lauren Conrad come out with new collections faster than you can say "Brody Jenner"? I'm not doing the hard work so she can keep it coming as long as she likes!

Her Summer in the City collection is not vastly different than the Spring line - shocking, I know! - but it does have some cute pieces. You'll continue to find jersey dresses, but also in the mix are butterfly prints, ruffles, bows, and an adorable strapless jumper (left) that I'm eyeing.

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman Take Their Engagement Glow to the Streets

Adam Shulman lovingly led Anne Hathaway through a crosswalk in NYC today. The couple were out and about after sharing their exciting engagement news over the weekend. Anne and Adam celebrated the milestone during an adorable park outing on Sunday. Anne showed off her diamond ring, which was designed by Adam and Kwiat Heritage Jewels, while also sharing PDA with her new fiancé. Anne and Adam have had many sweet moments since they started dating in 2008 and the duo will have plenty more to come as they plan their nuptials. Next year could be a big year for Anne with a potential wedding and the Summer release of The Dark Knight Rises, which she's been filming for the last few months.

After more than three years together, Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter have broken up. Minka Kelly's rep confirmed the news to PopSugar. The sexy couple who first got together around May of 2008 faced rumors ranging from splits to engagements over the years, though apparently they weren't able to make it work in the end. Derek is in the middle of his season with the NY Yankees while Minka is currently on location in Miami where she is shooting the Charlie's Angels reboot. Minka has her badass Charlie's Angels work to keep her distracted from any post-breakup blues and Derek crossed his own amazing milestone this Summer, becoming only the 28th MLB player to ever cross the 3000 hit mark. It's sad to hear that Minka and Derek are going their separate ways, though neither of the freshly single stars should have too much trouble finding new love if they want to.

Michelle Williams Gets Close With New Guy, Director Cary Fukunaga!

Michelle Williams cozied up to director Cary Fukunaga Monday for a walk near her Brooklyn home. It seems that Cary is her latest director love interest after dating Spike Jonze from 2008 to 2009. Cary was the man behind films like Sin Nombre and March's Jane Eyre. We interviewed Cary Fukunaga at a press day for the latter movie, and he spoke about how he's dreaming about working on a sci-fi musical. But for now, 33-year-old Cary confessed to be looking forward to a Spring and Summer break! He also admitted to doing some clothes shopping at the Brooklyn Flea, which is conveniently located just blocks from Michelle's house. Cary's actual next project will be No Blood, No Guts, No Glory, a Civil War-era heist story. Michelle had a different guy on her arm at the Met Ball, but it looks like Cary may be the main man in her life at the moment.
