Even though it's hot out, I can't seem to keep my hands - or wallet - away from the Fall goodies in stores. Perhaps it's a consequence of those Fall glimpses. In the past two days, I purchased a semisheer black sweater, a thin dolman-sleeve cardi, and a nubby funnel neck scarf. Are you all ready for Fall? Ha. I know you're on the verge of pouncing on Spring shopping, but it's always nice to know what's to come in your fashion future. The curtain has closed on the Fall shows. As expected, it was a tame season, but that doesn't mean it was boring. One city in particular disappointed (sorry Milan) while one (Paris) supplied the grand finale. Some of my favorites continued to dazzle (Louis Vuitton, pictured) and a couple surprises (Hussein Chalayan, Adam Lippes) reminded me that fashion is ever evolving. Without further ado . . . Source

Fab Flash: Doo-Ri Shows Off Her Bejeweled Legwear

Doo-Ri Chung has learned the right pair of tights can instantly transform an outfit. After receiving high accolades for the leggings shown in her Fall collection, seen left, Doo-Ri has decided to launch a hosiery line.

“I would love to use studs or bring something in that could be smooth on the surface,” said Chung. “Legwear is so important because women today see themselves in complete looks, and with how big accessories have become, they see how models are on the runway and that’s how they want to get dressed.”

The Doo.Ri leggings collection will make its debut in the Fall. If her hosiery does well, Chung will consider creating a more extensive line for next Spring.

On Our Radar: Anna Sheffield Creates Jewels With Bensoni

The jewelry mastermind behind Bing Bang, Anna Sheffield, has teamed up with hip NY clothing brand Bensoni to create a line of rocker girl baubles to complement its Fall collection. The exclusive line, which debuted at New York Fashion Week, includes a selection of earrings, necklaces, and cuffs made in inky, metallic finishes. My favorite piece has to be this rad cuff. Anna's combination of bronze and teal is genius. The collection will be available come Fall. I'm tingling!

Freaky or Fabulous: Isaac Mizrahi's Zany Hats

I'm all for avant-garde dressing, but the crazy toppers at Isaac Mizrahi's Fall show take hats to a whole new level. I love handbags but putting one on your head is nonfunctional and it just looks weird! Seriously, how strange would it be to see someone pulling their keys out the top of their head . . .? Let me know peeps: are these hats crazy freaky or crazy fabulous?

Fab Blab: Hollywood Girls Talk Recession Shopping

There's no denying the current economic crisis. That said, I've been trying my best to save money and cut back on everything - even shopping. Times like these make me envy the lifestyles of the rich and famous, but even they aren't immune to this problem. At New York Fashion Week, Hollywood girls Michelle Trachtenberg, Jessica Stroup, and Nicky Hilton dished on how they've been cutting back on their spending habits.

Michelle Trachtenberg

Michelle likes to mix H&M and Target into her wardrobe. “I have always kept in mind that my fans are teenagers and they don’t have a lot of money to spend. They like to get looks for less.”

Jessica Stroup

Jessica claims she has “always been a bit frugal.” The actress likes to reinvent her old pieces and is always on the lookout for sales.

Nicky Hilton

Even the heiress is getting more money savvy. “I’m being smarter about my spending. I’m not going into stores and buying anything. I am buying more pieces instead of just a bunch of clothes.”

Fab Finger Discount: French Connection Cosmic Wonder Tube Top

Jenni Kayne's Fall '09 collection was brilliant, but I didn't expect anything less from the trendsetting designer. Among the standout looks was this all-black trouser and tube top set, finished with chunky sandals, a gold ball necklace, and black-rimmed glasses. Simple yet unmistakably cool, that's Kayne's forte. If you wish to recreate it, French Connection's Cosmic Wonder Tube Top ($80, originally $138) should be your starting point. It's pleated like the designer version but way cheaper. Get your Kayne on.

New York Fashion Week Trend Alert: Bloodsuckers

I'm forever intrigued by bloodsuckers, but the sexiest monster has once again been popularized with the successes of Twilight and True Blood. I'm actually surprised I didn't see more gothic romance on the Fall runways; then again, we still have London, Milan, and Paris to go. A handful of New York designers delivered sultry, moody looks complete with sharp black outwear, ruffled blouses, lace aplenty, blood-colored tights and tulle, and neck-baring sexiness. Jill Stuart showed a youthful, slightly '80s version that would have garnered any Lost Boy's attention.

Catching Up With Mary-Kate

Here's how Mary-Kate's week went last week: Tuesday, CelebStyle is giving away pieces from the Elizabeth and James jewelry line; Wednesday, chatted with Fab while drinking a non-vanilla iced latte; Wednesday night, partied with fashion folks at Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld exhibition; Thursday, attended Proenza Schouler's Fall show while wearing a pair of shoes from Elizabeth and James's shoe collection; Saturday, attended the Independent Spirit awards in Proenza shoes. Whew. See how it's all intertwined? It had to be fate, then, that led me and Mary-Kate to a surprise convo at the Elizabeth and James design studio in NYC.I had an appointment to see the highly anticipated Elizabeth and James shoes and to preview the Summer clothing collection. No silly, not with Mary-Kate, she just happened to pop by when I was getting the scoop. Intros were made, Fab stood in shock.

Then we talked all things Olsen. Me, sipping on my GNC smoothie, her sipping her non-vanilla iced latte (she asked the deliverer to make sure it wasn't vanilla - are you getting this, Yum?). We then talked shoes. I can't reveal more pictures yet, but the finely crafted shoes come in either very flat or very heeled form - no in between. My favorites were the pony hair loafers and black suede ruched d'orsay open toe sandals. The Steve Madden team is very involved with manufacturing, sourcing, and distributing the shoes but with the girls’ aesthetic and the Elizabeth and James shoe designer, they are very different from the Steve Madden shoe lines. The shoes are very well made, being produced in China, Mexico, Brazil and Italy, and a price point below heavyweight heels like Louboutin or Manolo. MK spoke about how Ashley was inspired by a trip to Greece and hence created the gladiator sandals.

We then chatted about the quick success of The Row's menswear launch; MK was surprised it took off so fast. I swear, everything they touch turns to gold. We also talked about a friend of mine who worked as their illustrator on their junior line in LA - she said to say hi Jevon! Lastly, she was wearing the Balenciaga sandals in the photo on the left, black holey legging/tights, and an oversize black sweater. She was very polite and mellow. Hope you enjoyed catching up with Mary-Kate - I did!

Freaky or Fabulous: Alexander Wang's Killer Jewelry

As promised, Alexander Wang's first jewelry collection with Brooklyn-based jewelry designer Paris Kain of Abraxas Rex debuted on Wang's runway Feb. 14. If you paid close attention, you would have spotted the weapon-like cuff, seen on Tasha Tilberg's wrist, and the sharp, alien-like earrings. Do you recall when Wang said you wouldn't need pierced ears to wear his earrings? Now I get what he meant. Totally makes sense that Wang's jewels are as edgy as his clothes, but are they freaky or fabulous?
