No red carpet is ever complete without major bling. You better believe that the ladies who attended last night's Golden Globes did some major borrowing of jewels. Lorraine Schwartz, Chopard, Cartier, and Fred Leighton were the main suppliers.

Ruching, puckering, layering, and folding: The 2009 Golden Globes red carpet had dramatic folds and pleats aplenty. Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, January Jones, and America Ferrera were all in on it, pulling the look off in varying shapes and colors. And let's not forget Eva Mendes — one of my favorites — whose dazzling white Christian Dior gown was elegant in its originality.

This season, the ladies of the Golden Globes were all about wicked waist details. This special detailing lends instant interest to the midsection and can also break up a busy print. Waist details take the form of belts, large embellishments, or can even come preset like Olivia Wilde's dreamy Reem Acra gown, seen left.
