Fab Blab: Angelina Jolie Talks About Changeling Costumes

If you haven't seen Changeling yet, I highly recommend you check it out. The Eastwood directed gut-wrenching story features a mother named Christine, played by Angelina Jolie, who loses her son. Tragic and touching. But enough with the spoilers; check out what Angelina recently said about the cool '20s era costumes she wore for the film.

"The wardrobe choices are really the first steps toward Christine," Jolie says. "There is something about the style of clothes of the Twenties that is very sweet. They make you feel a little softer and just so delicate, hidden behind it all. It helped me very much."

Changeling costume designer, Deborah Hopper states: "It's always a challenge to try to find vintage clothes. Especially with the earlier periods, because these fabrics simply don't last; they fall apart," she explains. "So we went everywhere around this country and then some. We did come up with enough clothes, but barely." It looks like all of her hard work paid off - the clothes look great!

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Night at the Speakeasy

My friends and I are constantly looking for fun places to experience. Last weekend, we headed to the local speakeasy. Unlike typical bars, this place took us back in time with its moody '20s theme. We wanted to blend in with the crowd, so I asked you to help me find a fun outfit that matches the era. Fringe would be fun!

I started you off with this White House Felt Cloche ($48) because it's classic and cool. Let's see what you all came up with.

Sneak Peek! Rachel Pally Fall/Holiday '08 Collection

Rachel Pally's Fall/Holiday collection is right up my alley with the rich colors and interesting but subdued prints - many in her trademark jersey fabric. This collection is a tad more dressed up than usual and '20s-inspired. Standout pieces include a grey jersey jumpsuit, berry-colored dresses, tight mini skirts, and form-fitting, scoop neck tops. I can definitely see myself celebrating the holidays in this collection, feathered headbands and all!

Madison Marcus's Fall '09 collection has me crushin' like the ninth grade – you know what I mean. For the cold months ahead, the brand is keeping us warm with a supply of tweed skirts, shimmering cardigans, tailored pants, silk tops, and vintage-inspired frocks. I'm smitten with the '20s influence via intricate beading details and floaty shapes, but notice how the line evokes youthfulness through a fun, jewel-toned palette. Sometimes, you don't need to be bold to be noticed and Madison Marcus proves this perfectly. I can already see myself wearing this unique camel cowl-neck top with black skinnies and booties during a chilly Autumn day.

Designer Spotlight: Annie Havlicek

Finding hidden talent is my mission in life - I love sharing undiscovered treasures with you. Annie Havlicek, for example, is a prodigy in the making. After studying at the prestigious Parsons School of Design, the designer took on a bunch of internships at various powerhouses, such as Michael Kors, before embarking on her own line. For Fall, Annie showed off her love for the vintage '20s with a selection of flapper-inspired dresses, silky skirts, pleated tops, and tailored wool coats. It's all very soft yet sexy, and I adore her sharp eye for detail. All of a sudden, I feel like heading to the local speakeasy . . .

2009 Fall Couture: Jean Paul Gaultier

Judging from Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall couture creations, he didn't have a shortage of inspiration. The powerful warrior princess, the chic '20s flapper, the old-Hollywood actress, and the feisty futuristic goddess all had a place on the catwalk . . . and in JPG's eyes, they all prevail. Exquisite gowns set a glamorous tone: some with floor-length capes attached to them, some robe-like, and some chiffon with armor-like bodices. Fur played a big part - fur collars, coats, chubbies, and skirts made appearances. And what's luxury without beading? It showed up in the most unique ways, my favorite being the fine gold beaded overalls Kim Noorda rocked. Color didn't play a big part, but there were random bouts of rich purple, yellow, pink, and brown.
