On Our Radar: JCPenney's on a Fashionable Roll

Hot on the heels of its Charlotte Ronson deal, JCPenney has found its latest collaborator: Allen B. Schwartz. The mega-retailer has enlisted the LA-based designer to create a trendy and fun collection of dresses and sportswear.

Schwartz describes the collection as California cool. “Today, what is exploding is the antifit look, the crop look, the boy jean, ruffle blouses and the new harem pant. It’s very baggy, very ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ inspired said the designer. The line, set to launch in February, will include an array of tie-dyed knit tops, jumpsuits, dresses, and tops such as the ones seen above. Prices range from $30 for tees to $70 for dresses, and the collection will be available in stores and online at jcp.com.

A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz is currently famous for its frilly cocktail dresses, but it's soon going to also be known for its jewels. The company has joined forces with fashion jewelry brand, Carolee, to create a Spring '08 collection of bling to complement A.B.S.'s dress and sportswear lines. The bold and colorful line is now available at select Bloomingdales and Lord & Taylor stores.

If you think you were busy this year, wait until you see how many designers expanded their businesses in 2008. Hint: It took me a crazy long time to round them all up. Majors like Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, and Stella McCartney added more to their plates, as did smaller brands such as Members Only and Paige Denim. Mischa's Adorable Dress

Even though she didn't know it, Mischa was wearing this adorable Scanlan & Theodore dress at the David Jones Summer Collection Launch in Sydney last night.

Scanlan & Theodore is an Australian designer with a boutique in Sydney. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a place to buy the designs online, but I have heard that some pieces can be found at certain Barneys and Saks Fifth Avenue stores as well as Harvey Nichols and Selfridges in London.
