Freaky or Fabulous: Super Sparkly Bodysuit a la McQueen

Is there such a thing as sparkle overkill? Nah. The fact that sequins, beads, rhinestones, crystals, and all that glitters have not left fashion for years is a testament to that. Sure, in small doses it can be sweet and pretty, but that's not how Alexander McQueen rolls. Check his bronze jewel-encrusted bodysuit as seen on Abbey Lee Kershaw in Vogue Italia. Fits like a dipped-in-gold glove - head to toe and spiked heel. Her platinum locks further illuminate the scene. If I were sporting this super sparkly bodysuit I'd be hitting the town. I'm like a moth to a flame, but you tell me: freaky or Fab?

Fab Ad: Calvin Klein Jeans Fall 2008

While most brands continue to use celebrities as models, Calvin Klein Jeans has replaced Kate Bosworth with real models for its Fall campaign. And these aren't just any unknown models. Abbey Lee, Agnete Hegelund, and Toni Garrn are the latest crop of It models posing for the black and white photos. These are supposed to remind you of the old-school Calvin Klein Jeans ads with Kate Moss and Jenny Shimizu - only these models are fully clothed. I dig the random posing. 2010 Spring Couture: Chanel

Karl Lagerfeld concocted an extra special couture collection for Spring '10. The inspiration - "neon baroque" - was devoid of his usual hues of black and navy. "It's the first time in my whole career I've done a collection without black or navy. There's not one gold button," said Lagerfeld. Interestingly enough, the concept was a result of "electronic flashes" he experienced in his sleep. "I saw it in a dream and I made the sketches . . . at five o'clock in the morning," said Lagerfeld. With fresh ingenuity, the designer sent his models down the runway, with awesome Minnie Mouse hair, in a rainbow of whimsical color. Brights pastels, ice blues, and minty fresh hues were cut into delicious frothy tiered frocks, cocoon wraps, culottes, and sleek silky dresses.

His iconic tweed suit was present, but has been updated with flashy metallic embroidery, sequins, and fun florals. Metallic silver footwear also added a modern touch. The perfect ending? Abbey Lee Kershaw, draped in a lace and silk gown, and Baptiste Giabiconi, shining in a foil suit, walking down the runway as bride and groom. Exquisite.

Girls on Film: American Dreamin', W, December '08

In honor of the Fourth of July, I bring you a special edition of Girls on Film: W's American Dreamin' editorial in the Dec. '08 issue. It features the hottest crop of models - Eniko Mihalik, Lara Stone, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Sessilee Lopez, and Aline Weber - taking on confident all-American characters. From potato chips to American flags, cowboy hats to plaid shirts, it's pure Americana, and there is no better time for it than now. I am especially intrigued by the juxtaposition between the quirky props and glamorous gowns. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin capture the madness in LA. American dreamin'!

Cate Blanchett Helps Vogue Australia Celebrate 50

What better way for Vogue Australia to celebrate its big 5-0 than to have Cate Blanchett on its cover. Or rather, covers. The Aussie actress graces not one, but four, covers of the September issue, which is 360 pages. London-based illustrator David Downton drew all four stunning portraits. I thought Cate was stunning in photos but she's even better animated!

The highlights of the issue? A 10-page spread of swimsuits created exclusively for the edition by Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce and Gabbana, and more, and a 28-page editorial featuring Aussie models Catherine McNeil and Abbey Lee Kershaw. Sounds like a collectors item to me.

Karlie Kloss Reveals Her Model BFFs, Spring Must Haves, and Nudity

When I spy a tall, thin, blonde slowly gliding down the runway, head slightly tilted down, eyes focused, staring, I know exactly who it is: American model Karlie Kloss. The 16-year-old, who has recently taken up blogging on Modelfeed, has an unparalleled presence; she's cute-as-a-button approachable and intensely mysterious at the same time. I chatted with the modeling sensation about how she was discovered, her model posse, and what she's wearing these days.

How were you discovered?

Doing a charity fashion show in a mall in St. Louis for a friend who was battling cancer.

Has your ballet dance experience helped you on the catwalk or with your stamina?

Ballet has helped me express myself on photo shoots, and on the catwalk gives me the confidence to move with the fabrics.

Do you ever get embarrassed or uncomfortable with the nudity that modeling demands?

I am still 16 so my agency won't allow me to do nudity of any sort.

Tripping on the runway after closing the Pucci show in Milan.

How do you pass the time waiting around for the action to begin?

I just talk to my girlfriends, and of course BlackBerry my agent Stephen, and eat cookies in the corner with the girls.

Do you have model friends? If so, who?

Yes, I have lots. Jourdan Dunn is a close friend. I love Karmen Pedaru, and Catherine McNeil is cool to bake stuff with; they both live in my building. Abbey Lee is always cool to hang out with.

Favorite photo shoot destination?

I always wanted to shoot in Disney World. Probably shooting British Vogue with Patrick Demarchelier in an island off Sweden.

What are your Spring must haves?

White t-shirts, jeans, and whatever trade the designers will be throwing my way.

I officially declare 2008 as the year of the celebrity designer. Seriously, who didn't try their hand at fashion designing? Some granted rave reviews, others, well, you tell me. From reality stars to actresses to singers, these celebrities all had something to say about style this year. Nicole Richie offered up her affordable line of chic jewels, The Hills girl Whitney Port debuted her designing talent with Eve & A, and even LL Cool J grabbed a piece of the action with his Sears line!
