Look who's in my neck of the woods? Stylistress, who, might I add, looks awesome in acid. She's smart for veering away from the '80s by pairing her jeans with a sophisticated navy jacket. It's all about striking the right balance.

Celebrity Style: Kate Bosworth

One thing is certain: Kate Bosworth loves and therefore lives in her Topshop acid-wash jeans and red Chloe buckle boots. It's admirable - despite being photographed constantly, she rewears her favorite pieces. This time around, she wore them while hanging out with her model boyfriend at The Grove in LA. She used a subtle leopard tee and a navy sweater to temper her bold bottom half. Her Ray-Ban aviators and Chloe Saskia bag add further funk to the mix.

Stella McCartney's Spring '10 show just unveiled at Paris Fashion Week, and one of her closest pals, Gwyneth Paltrow, was in attendance. While other stars have been dressing way up for the shows, Gwyneth kept it casual chic in cropped acid jeans. It's a minimal look, with a slight nod to the '80s via the acid wash and the bold shouldered Stella McCartney blazer.

Madewell's $59.50 Skinny Skinnys

Now this is more like it. J.Crew is focusing on the "skinny skinny" denim silhouette with Madewell ’37s jeans collection offered at the just-right price of $59.50. The detail-free (love that) jeans will come in a variety of modern washes: black, plume, avalanche (modified acid-wash), dark ash, and chimney (a bleached-out black-on-gray).

Honing in on quality at a low price point, and the current saturated denim market, Millard “Mickey” Drexler, chairman and chief executive officer of Madewell parent J. Crew Group Inc., explains, "We don’t think [the jeans market] is saturated with cool, well-made, well-designed jeans at $59.50 and up to about $100, particularly with a style, fit, and wash point of view."

The tagline for the marketing of the '37s is "Cool jeans. Great price. We’ve got your back." That's trying a little too hard when it sounds like the product will sell itself. Just sayin.' See one more cute Madewell look.

I'm the type that likes to mix a little flirty with a little funk. Alice + Olivia knows what I mean. For Fall, designer Stacey Bendet fused the two elements together creating a fearlessly feminine collection. Her super-soft tunics and hoodies would complement anything in my closet and I adore the flirty skirts and frocks. For bottoms, Stacey gave us destroyed acid-wash jeans and cropped trousers while tops stayed simple. All together a seamless selection of good girl meets bad.

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Midnight Bowling Madness

Last weekend, I entertained my friends with my bowling skills, or rather, my lack thereof. After a late dinner, we headed over to the local alley for some midnight bowling. Once the clock struck 12, the bright lights turned off, the parents went home, and the big kids came out and played. Even though my score was under 100, I still had a lot of fun! 2009 Fall: Michael Michael Kors and Kors

Now that Fall ready-to-wear is all shown and done, designers are showing their lesser priced ideas. Michael Kor's neon notions might have been overboard for you, but his better-priced Michael Michael Kors and Kors lines are also punked up. Alongside simple LBDs, acid wash jeans, stormy prints, biker boots, stripes, and animal prints rule. This line is obviously geared toward (and priced for) the younger consumer, and colors stay in the bold black/white/gray/pink range. Works for me. Source

Paris Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Balmain

In one more season it may seem formulaic, but for now, Balmain is rocking the runway. With a raw mix of jacket and pant combos, bandage dresses, and slashed gowns, this collection is party and afterparty ready. Remember Balmain's sultry Fall season? With its highly coveted (and already worn by Carine Roitfeld and daughter) party dresses and wild cut-outs? They're back, and they're better than ever. But Christophe Decarnin is not just exposed skin and energetic frills - he took his stab at the sharp shoulder. It's too conical for my taste, but it makes for some stunning jackets.The standouts are the acid washed jeans, the itty bitty body-con dresses, and the vibrant, hemline-up-to-there gowns. I do have to point out my disappointment in the shoes - haven't we seen enough studded sandals for one season? And let's face it: No one can top Rodarte's studded Louboutins. They were clearly intended to stun, but the clothes already play that role.
