Trend Alert: Caped Crusaders

I have one friend who always loved capes. She sported an awesome black vintage one in the dead of winter before they were even trendy - though they are sort of classic - and she looked immaculate. She would wear it with black skinnies and vintage shoes, to give the cape some street cred. So, for those not ready to be a caped crusader you can do as my friend did or go minimal like at Jil Sander. Or, you can make up a mysterious look all your own - always encouraged.

Fall Coat Trends: Peacoats

Admittedly, the old-school pea coat is a perennial favorite, but this year designers are mixing it up with new twists on the classic double-breasted wool look, making them cropped, asymmetrical, and single-breasted. Model of the Week: Marisa Miller

This week, we have a supermodel on our hands! In fact, so super that she was discovered by famed photographer, Mario Testino while surfing in Manhattan Beach, CA.

29-year old Model of the Week, Marisa Miller, was a volleyball star in high school and loved all beach sports, which is why it's fitting that she was featured in six Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editions! You may also recognize the Santa Cruz native from Victoria's Secret catalogs, or from the covers of Vogue, Fitness and Shape magazines. Marisa is also no stranger to catwalks. She has strutted her stuff down runways for many designers. She has also appeared in campaigns for J. Crew, Nordstrom, Tommy Hilfiger and Andrew Marc.

This August, she will be starring in her first television commercial for Victoria's Secret alongside Heidi Klum.

Modern Leather Motorcyle Jackets

There are some fashions you put on that just make you feel cool: fabulous sunglasses, form-fitting jeans, black nail polish, an incognito trench, and killer heels. But the ultimate cool item spotted during these transitional Fall-to-Winter days has got to be the leather motorcycle jacket. As Keira Knightley and Lindsay Lohan have proven, this can be a pretty fierce cover-up. Our favorite way to wear these updated styles is over a feminine dress, the way the too-cool-for-school models have sported it.
