Earlier this year, the fashion industry was fixated with transgendered and androgynous models like Jana K., Lea T., and Andrej Pejic who have appeared on runways, magazine covers, and fashion campaigns. Today, New York magazine released its Fall fashion issue featuring Andrej Pejic in shirtless stance similar to the one he posed for Dossier magazine a couple months back. That issue received much controversy after Barnes & Noble demanded that Dossier's publishers hide the cover in an opaque plastic bag, but it seems like New York magazine is having no issues with flashing Andrej Pejic's shirtless cover on newsstands today. Tell us, do you think androgyny is still an interesting topic, or are you over it?

Androgynous Rachel Bilson, in Edie Rose For DKNY: Love It or Hate It?

You've seen Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans collection on the models and now you're seeing it on the designer. I have to say, I admire celebrity designers who actually wear their creations. Rachel promoted her new line over the weekend in Florida and decided to go the highly androgynous route in a black cropped blazer, menswear shirt with black tie from her collection, and a bowler hat. She kept the rest of her look casual with skinny jeans and black flats. What do you think? Is this a good look for her or does she look Charlie Chaplin silly?

Style Glossary: Paperbag Pants

Paperbag Pants

High-waist pants that have a gathered waistband, usually tied by a sash or belt made of the same fabric. The term originated because this new style of pant looks like the top of a paper bag. Skirts can also have the same paperbag-like detail. The moniker isn't appealing, but paperbag pants look great on tall girls who seek a comfortable androgynous look.

Fabcon: Diane Keaton

How many actresses can say that a single movie role they played spawned a whole fashion movement? Playing Annie Hall was so natural for Diane Keaton, her personal style reflects what Annie would wear today, were she real. Yes, Diane has made a few fashion faux pas, but what risk-taker hasn't? If you don't take risks in fashion, you can't be in the running for a style icon. What's more, when Kate Moss is inspired by your style, you know you've got something special going on.

What attracts me to Diane's personal style is her ability to pull off androgynous looks with utter sophistication - like no other woman in Hollywood. She found a fashion genre that works for her, so she's stayed endlessly true to it. Not many fashion insiders have that much loyalty to one style. And I'm not the only one who sings Diane's praises; Rachel Bilson, who often dabbles with the boy-meets-girl style, looks up to her, too:

"Diane Keaton always stays true to herself, stylewise, which I admire so much. And I love her menswearish Annie Hall-era outfits," she said in Lucky Magazine's March issue.

I'm so glad Diane was chosen to portray Annie Hall, because in the hands of another actress, who knows if the menswear trend would live on so strongly today!

Used in fashion as a "look" of a female resembling a male. Popularized by actress Diane Keaton in the 1970's movie Annie Hall, and copied as fashion apparel.

Kate Bosworth and Amanda Peet recently went androgynous at New York Fashion Week.

Through her signature minimalist lens, Phoebe Philo brought forth a sportier chic with the season's call to volume on wide boxy coats and cropped leather jackets for Céline's Fall 2012 collection. There was a subtle departure here from Philo's typical stuff - though it may even be an exaggeration to suggest it's a deviation at all. Rather, Philo enhanced her usual minimalist-chic with a few bold pops of color and a little luxe texture. Shapes were wide and boxy in Céline's signature fashion, but we did get a taste of bold flavor on fuchsia-washed fur on a long coat and a puffed up sweatshirt-style top. The usual fare was a simplified, albeit volume-injected exercise in androgynous outerwear silhouettes, cropped pants, and slouchy track pants. In every pared-down piece, from the leather shells to the streamlined clutches each model had in hand, Philo honed her craft for an uncomplicated cool.

Trends: Boxy coats, leather, color-saturated fur, colorblocking, minimalism.
Colors: Blue, orange, black, white, pink.
Key Look: The boxy navy car coat with brown leather lapels.
