The red carpet was just as exciting as the sidewalk this week. We kicked things off with the Teen Choice Awards so I had to throw in a couple beauties from that. In addition, we saw mega-magnetic couple Brad and Angelina at the LA premiere of Inglourious Basterds.

Despite the fact that she stuck to her signature color, black, she knocked it out of the ballpark with her strapless leather Michael Kors dress. If you recall, Angelina's stylist Jen Rade once told me she puts the actress in black because it allows her strong features to shine.
Which Harper's Bazaar July Cover Wins — Fashion or Celebrity?
Harper's Bazaar invented its dual-cover concept in 2001, but it's especially important today since newsstand sales have become as pertinent as advertising revenue. For its July issue, the mag is giving subscribers a fierce fashion cover shot of model Doutzen Kroes, shot by Terry Richardson. But newsstand shoppers will see a completely different cover, one that features a Getty image of Angelina Jolie taken at the LA premiere of Curious Case of Benjamin Button in December 2008.

Just when I'd forgotten the effect the fascinatingly gorgeous couple can have. Check out Angelina and Brad at the Inglourious Basterds premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Not only am I dying to see this movie (Quentin Tarantino directing, starring Brad and Diane Kruger), this is the best dressed Cannes red carpet thus far.

What did you think of this year's Oscars? Here's my take. I enjoyed the show more, with the fresh talent, cool sets, and quick editing, but the red carpet wasn't the most exciting.

True, Angelina Jolie's Elie Saab black sweetheart Oscars gown was simple. Also true: Her Lorraine Schwartz $2.5M oversize teardrop dangles were knockouts. They, along with an emerald ring, really made her look, and the best part was they were unexpected.

Oscars opulence isn't all about the dress. This year, the stars were lavishly appointed from ear to ear. Angelina Jolie, Evan Rachel Wood, Alicia Keys, Jessica Biel, Vanessa Hudgens, and Heidi Klum were all luxuriously iced with statement-making earrings.
