It's bound to happen. Everyone starts to hibernate as the days get shorter and the temp gets colder. However, that's no excuse to dress drab. I suggest making your Winter retreat a fashionable one via buffalo plaid, sherpa-lined denim, laced boots, and boyfriend jeans. Think Paul Bunyan, or rather, Paulina Bunyan, when styling your warm warfare. Now, all I need is a cabin, fireplace, hot cocoa, and a snuggly stud muffin.

Flamboyant2 and I must be on the same wavelength. We both have nuptials to attend, so that means shopping for a snazzy ensemble. All this wedding talk inspired me to feature her picture-perfect outfit. I'm absolutely smitten with the artsy disc dress because it's simultaneously girlie and modern. The velvet bow purse is ideal for cross-body function and the embellished sandals are perfect for dancing the night away!

Thanks to Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester's slick portrayal of black and white stripes, I'm a fan. This Vintage Puff Sleeve Black and White Stripe Blouse, size small/medium, reminds me of a striped Demeulemeester blazer I own. It's a fine piece for those who want to fuse rock 'n roll with a French aesthetic, along with some old-school sophistication. Top it off with a shrunken vest and roll up the sleeves for a less buttoned-up look.

When there's salt, there's pepper. Hot and cold. Light and dark. You catch my drift. In fashion, we are always presented with another side of the coin. If Ice Ice Baby isn't your tune, try watching Tales From the Dark Side.

Some of these designers always cater to the dark lords of fashion - London's Gareth Pugh, Givenchy's Ricardo Tisci. A few just felt like dipping in murky waters for Fall: Julien Macdonald's dark glam rockin' looks and Gucci's fabulous folky getups. Meanwhile, Alexander Wang is proving to be the connoisseur of downtown (dis)taste. But no one told a tall tale like Ann Demeulemeester and her posh tatterdemalions (left).

Fab Field Trip: Saks' San Francisco's Spankin' New Shoe Department

So I'm shoe obsessed. Who isn't? Imagine my elation when I found out the Saks in San Francisco was redoing its shoe department to mirror the famous New York one. The one I visit every time I'm in New York. The one I interviewed Lindsay Price in. The one with its own zip code. The one. Now there's a mini one right outside my office, on my way home, Fab. Team Fab took a peruse through the stunning new department and it's an underground shoe haven, complete with floating glass bubbles and 1,100 shoes. New brands include Ann Demeulemeester, Givenchy (yes!), Dries van Noten, and Gianvito Rossi. Shoes are displayed on various posh surfaces and a variety of chandeliers make the space feel warm and inviting. The curved banquettes make trying on shoes a deeply fabulous experience.

What made us swoon? Favorites included sequined Miu Mius, bowed Valentinos, edgy Givenchys, cheeky Chanels, and artsy Drieses. Oh, and the most massive Louboutin display, ever. They have more Louboutins than the Louboutin store in Paris. I kid you not. If you happen to be in SF anytime soon, put this on your itinerary.

Nicole Richie headed to yet another day of traffic school, but from her rocker chick outfit, you would think she's going to a concert. Just because the occasion is not so exciting doesn't mean she shouldn't put herself together just like usual. Au contraire. Nicole chose an Elizabeth and James patchwork dress and her blue Balenciaga motorcycle bag. I dig her finishing touches (nix the tights) - the wide-rim hat, the simple necklace, and her signature sunnies. Do you?

P.S. Does anyone else see Nicole channeling Ann Demeulemeester's Fall collection? A keen connection.
