Don't be deterred by Ann Demeulemeester's Fall 2012 tough-girl exterior and Edward Scissorhands-inspired coifs, this collection was chock-full of gorgeously elegant dresses, skirts with expertly deconstructed pleats, and perfectly structured outerwear. But her latest daring choice - an Ann Demeulemeester Feather Circle Scarf ($480) - she wore to Bulgari's 125th anniversary party in Paris is questionable. Don't get me wrong, I think if anyone can pull it off, it's her, but is it a look you would want to rock? I adore feathers, I dig circle scarves, I just don't know if I love them together. Thoughts?

Thanks to Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester's slick portrayal of black and white stripes, I'm a fan. This Vintage Puff Sleeve Black and White Stripe Blouse, size small/medium, reminds me of a striped Demeulemeester blazer I own. It's a fine piece for those who want to fuse rock 'n roll with a French aesthetic, along with some old-school sophistication. Top it off with a shrunken vest and roll up the sleeves for a less buttoned-up look.

Some of these designers always cater to the dark lords of fashion - London's Gareth Pugh, Givenchy's Ricardo Tisci. A few just felt like dipping in murky waters for Fall: Julien Macdonald's dark glam rockin' looks and Gucci's fabulous folky getups. Meanwhile, Alexander Wang is proving to be the connoisseur of downtown (dis)taste. But no one told a tall tale like Ann Demeulemeester and her posh tatterdemalions (left).
