If I didn't already plan my Halloween costume this year – I'm going to be a mermaid - I would totally be a cancan girl. But hey, there's always next year, right? In case you didn't know, cancan dancers first derived from Paris in the mid 1800s. They were known for performing lively, leg-kicking dances in a chorus line. Since then, the dance style has spread across the world. You can always spot a cancan dancer by her awesome costume: long fluffy skirts, petticoats, corsets, stockings, and colorful feather headgear. You too, can be a cancan.

I grew up with the Nightmare on Elm Street films - would you believe I have the entire DVD box set? I thought Freddy was the perfect monster: ugly, funny, nasty, and had the coolest weapon. Not to mention the scariest scheme: coming to get you in your dreams! Essential to this costume are the glove and the hat; other than that, play around with a red striped top, shred up some leggings, and don your fiercest pair of shoes. Better lock your door . . .

Trend Alert: The TTD

My daily routine of perusing Net-A-Porter led me to something so simplistically new: the TTD, also known as the top tunic dress. However, I must give credit to Roland Mouret for this genius idea. The TTD is pretty much three pieces in one: a top when tucked into pants, a tunic paired with leggings, and a dress - rad. When shopping for TTDs, make sure to look for sleek shapes and solid colors for maximum versatility and always accessorize with tough elements. Three in one? It doesn't get better than that, folks.
