Back to Basics: The Best Body Lotions

Welcome to this installment of Back to Basics. These amazing moisturizing body lotions are my all time favorites. I have used them for years and have never had any kind of allergic reactions or dry skin. What are some of your favorite body lotions?

Kiehl's Creme de Corps, $26, is a treat for your skin when it is feeling just a little too dry or you've recently been in the sun. Just a little of this super rich moisturizer goes a long way.

I received a bottle of this as a gift about seven years ago and have never looked back. Beta-carotene gives it a natural deep yellow color. It is recommended to use for ten straight days to achieve optimum results.

It is available in three sizes: a 4.2 oz travel bottle is $16, an 8.4 oz bottle sells is $26, and a 16.9 oz bottle is $42. If you buy the larger size it comes with a pump for easy dispensing, it costs $44 (shown).

Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion For Normal to Dry Skin, $7.99, has been in my house every since I was a wee little tot. Owned by Pfizer, it was developed by dermatologists to promote more supple, smooth and healthier skin.

It has a very clean, non-greasy feel and it quickly penetrates your skin so that there is no residue left on your body as you are getting dressed. It won't clog your pores and is available in two sizes: 6 oz and 16 oz at most drugstores and pharmacies.

Biotherm Lait Corporel Anti-Drying Body Milk, $20, is the lightest of the bunch - but don't let that fool you. Just because it has a thin texture, it still helps to repair dry skin, restore your skin’s protective barrier and protect its natural elasticity. It is available in two sizes: a 6.7 oz bottle costs $20 and a 13.5 oz bottle costs $35.

Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage Concealer, $28, has won countless beauty awards. Reason being is it totally covers up dark circles, pimples, red spots and also brightens your eyes. What's cool it is contains two shades so you can blend them together to create the perfect shade for your skin all year round. Also, a little goes a long way, so it'll last you quite a long time. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, $38.50, will not only cover but will highlight and brighten. This magic pen has celebs, editors and anyone with dark circles hooked. It has a lightweight formula with an attached brush that makes application to the eye area, hollow of the chin, and sides of the nose super easy. Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer in Light Beige, $3.29, will cover you completely! It blends in flawlessly if you lightly dab it around your orbital bone. It's also great for covering blemishes, or any red spots. I have been using this since high school, and it's hands down my favorite concealer of all time.

In this installment of Back to Basics: The Best Powder Bronzers, we are going to take a trip down memory lane to share a few of my old time favorites. I can't wait to hear what you think! Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna , $28, is my all time fave bronzer. It's got just the right amount of shimmer in it and there is no trace of orange in the undertones. I can wear it during any season and it blends well with any shade of blush I pair it with. It gives me the best all over glow and I can even dust it along my collar bones for contouring.

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder, $32, in medium has yet to let me down. Since it is a matte blush, it's great for shading or for dusting all over your face as a deep toned powder. It will give your skin a sun kissed, healthy radiance. You can also use it all year round and it lasts forever! It is available in five shades.

Origins Sunny Disposition® Powder Bronzer in Deep, $19.50, is perfect for really enhancing your best features. It now also comes in a new lighter color (warm) but I've got to say, this bronzer in the deep color has been a staple of mine for years. You can use it all over your face or just as a highlight on your forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and eyebrow bone. It contains Vitamin C and is oil, talc and aluminum free.

Baked Pyramid™ Matte Bronzer in Baked Tan, $11.95, is a sheer and lighter colored bronzer than the rest. I like that it's matte and it just gives you a hint of color for those really pale days where you need some life on your face. Also if you are sun burnt - GASP - this will help to even out your skin tone.

In this installment of Back to Basics: The Best Champagne Eye Shadows, we are going to take a trip down memory lane to see a few of my old time favorites. I can't wait to hear what you think!

Shroom, by MAC Cosmetics $14, is one of the most versatile eye shadows. This soft muted golden beige has a slight opalescent shimmer to it. You can use it all over your lid as a neutral shade, you can mix it with any of your other favorite shadows and you can use it right below your brow as a highlighter. I'm on my third Shroom already! It's a staple in my makeup bag that I have yet to find a replacement for.

Kitten by Stila, $14. This color is their number one best seller for a reason! It's something you can wear with anything. Although it's categorized as more of a shimmery nude pink, the shimmer is champagne colored on the pink of your eye. This color is as versatile as your LBD! It glides on smoothly and just a little bit goes a long way.

Eye shadow in Smashing Champagne by Smashbox, $16, is a long-lasting shadow with excellent blend-ability. It can be worn alone or layered. This shade looks great on everyone.

Online Sale Alert! Back To School Basics at Gap

Coincidentally, two Fab girls went to the Gap after work on the same evening last week. But they went separately, looking for different items. They didn't run into each other in the store but the style stars must have been aligned. What one of them did find was the sale section, filled with back to school basics.

Take this Flutter-sleeve top ($35, originally $50). Wouldn't this look great with a pair of skinnies and funky sandals while it's still warm? On the flip side, layer it over a thermal under a tweed blazer when it gets chilly. Basics, redone.

Gwen Stefani took a break from her No Doubt tour to show her Spring '10 designs for L.A.M.B. at New York Fashion Week. She also found time to talk to PopSugar about her tour experience and motherhood.

But what we were most interested in is how she chose her outfits for the tour: "It was actually quite hard because we didn't have a record coming out, so we just went back to basics and tried to pick things that were very classic. Things that I kind of - things I thought just signified me. Then we kind of summed it all up."

My favorite from when I saw ND this Summer was the black-and-white houndstooth sequin jumper - so Gwen, so Fab!

Last Fall, Tom Ford showed his shades via a dolled-up Liliana Dominguez and fried chicken. This Fall, Ford brought it back to the basics. Nude basics. Tom did the shooting this time and brought in nakie exotic blond Anna Maria Jagodzinska and favorite male model Jon Kortajarena. “I have taken pictures for years, but recently have become more serious about it and have started shooting portraits,” said Ford. Tom has also been busy wrapping up his film A Single Man, debuting at the Venice Film Festival Sept. 11.
