Kristen tried out Spring's printed pants trend, choosing a pair of primary colored, statement pants by Balenciaga. She kept the rest of her outfit simple with a tailored blazer, white tank top, and classic black heels, while alongside Kirsten Dunst, who looked lovely in white. Nicolas Ghesquière showed off a sporty Space Age collection for Balenciaga's Fall 2012 collection, comprised of baggy metallic pants, sheer dresses, and boxy structured coats. "We imagined this Balenciaga Inc. company [in the '80s] and then we started to identify the functions the staff have and the clothes they would wear - the space-age sweatshirt girls were the spies infiltrating the company," said Ghesquière. While some of '80s nuances were present, like the boxy jackets and printed sweatshirts, Ghesquière's expertise in tight tailoring took the collection to the future. Models strutted down the runway in an array of baggy metallic colorblock pants and structured leather-detailed coats complete which at times, was paired with notebooks to drive in the inspiration point. There were also an intriguing array of sheer dresses, for the work-to-party girl, decorated with animal prints and contrasting leather detailing. For accessories, Ghesquière footwear highlighted a mix of sharp cap-toe ankle boots and white strappy sandals, while bags showed boxy leather satchel bags with wide straps. Kristen Stewart Is Balenciaga's Newest Face

Proof that Kristen Stewart has refined taste: the 21-year-old star just inked a deal to become the new face of Balenciaga fragrance. Following Charlotte Gainsbourg, who represents the fashion house's first scent, Kristen will be part of Balenciaga's yet-to-be-named second perfume.

Kristen has worn Balenciaga on the red carpet before, most notably a short and sheer dress that showed flashes of skin. In a press release, she called designer Nicolas Ghesquiere's creations "incredibly bold and forceful, yet feminine and sexy." And Ghesquiere, who first met the star in 2006, also had high praise for her. "From her early appearance in Panic Room to her independent choice of Welcome to the Rileys, I've always sensed her progressive character," he said. Expect the campaign to roll out this Fall.

Most shows wouldn't be able to top collapsing benches, which in turn led to collapsing editors, but such a small snafu couldn't deter the magnificence seen on Balenciaga's Spring runway showing. Staying true to the brand's signature style, Nicolas Ghesquière showed dramatic structure, volume, and space-age fabrics. “I don’t know if oversize is the right term for that type of construction,” Ghesquière told WWD. “But this famous, and for me, a very functional, concept of Cristobal is the idea of the space between the body and the fabric. The clothes float away from the body. It’s one of the big iconic things of Balenciaga. The fluidity of floating is beautiful, but it is something else. . . I think it’s something that Balenciaga invented." Shiny jewel-toned structured jackets, short shorts, graphic tops, fringe-like cellophane skirts, and pleated and folded trousers all rendered the cool, ultra-modern aesthetic the designer is known for. The dresses, ranging from oversize tunics to midi-length patchwork creations, were impossibly chic and innovative. Ghesquière, who is also famous for his covetable accessories, showed sharp and angular cutout booties and gorgeous leather oversize clutch bags. Rachel Zoe was front row for yesterday's Thierry Mugler show and for Balmain's today in the City of Light. Meanwhile, Salma Hayek and her husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, checked out Balenciaga this morning. Both women are in France to take in the latest styles at Paris Fashion Week. Rachel arrived with baby Skyler and Rodger Berman in tow on Tuesday, but her young son hasn't accompanied her to any of the events. Salma, for her part, has been busy traveling all month. She, Francois-Henri, and their daughter, Valentina, spent some time in Venice before the girls headed to the Toronto Film Festival and then to LA for a brief stay. Today, Salma and Francois-Henri smiled for the photographers lining the entrance to Balenciaga, but once inside, the runway presentation hit a bit of a snag. The benches at Balenciaga broke, pitching several attendees onto the ground, so the guests stood as the models walked!
