The Oscars is the biggest event of the year in Hollywood. The time where everyone pulls out all the stops: the gowns, the hair, the makeup, the jewelry... but wait, this year, where was all the jewelry? One trend I noticed was bare necks on the red carpet and it almost made these women look like they were missing something. I love seeing what jewels people wear just as much as I love to see which designer dress they are wearing; so I have to ask, where was all the bling?

Lace definitely reigned at tonight's Met Gala, and one of the lovely ladies who got in on the trend was Heidi Klum. Heidi's barely there blue Escada lace dress was seriously sexy, and if the sheer factor wasn't enough, it also featured a thigh-high slit. The model mom layered chunky onyx chains around her neck and wrist, and sported black pointy-toe pumps to finish her ensemble. So what do you think - was Heidi's look a hit?

Paralympian April Holmes Making a Name as a Winner

April Holmes may have lost part of her leg, but the Paralympics star refuses to be seen as handicapped. She's on a quest to finish what she started in 2008 and come home with two medals in London. Follow more journeys to London on espnW.com.

April Holmes was in first place during the 200-meter final at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing when the spike on her prosthetic left leg got caught on the track, causing her to fall to the ground. Another competitor stepped on Holmes' face with a track spike. Holmes also caused Marie-Amelie le Fur of France to fall. Despite a right eye filled with blood and a bruised leg, Holmes hobbled to the finish line to complete the race. "I have this thing about finishing whatever you start, so despite my condition I was going to cross the finish line," she wrote in her blog.

Five days later, despite being sore and tired, Holmes raced in the 100-meter final. Her leg and hips hurt so much she could barely warm up. She even told her competitors they were going to win the race. "I could barely lift my leg, but I never let [my family] know," Holmes said. "They would be too concerned and I didn't need the pity party. Instead, I needed energy and God." As Holmes likes to say it was "by the grace of God," that she crossed the finish line to win gold in the 100 in 13.72 seconds. That's three seconds slower than the able-body Olympic record held by Florence Griffith-Joyner. Holmes would later discover she did it all with a labral tear in her left hip.

Holmes was elated with her first gold, but on the flight home she couldn't help but think she should have two medals around her neck. That's why she began training two months later for the 2012 Games. Her goal is to claim the 200 medal that eluded her in Beijing.

Before the Paralympics - where she became the fastest amputee in her class, holding world records in the 100, 200 and 400 - Holmes was an All-American in the 400 and 4x400 relay at Norfolk State. After graduation she started working and gave up competitive athletics.

Engage your belly and use your arms to pull yourself forward. Roll up. To advance this exercise, you can roll up with a straight single leg (then change to the second leg)."

True Blood Bites: "I'm Alive and on Fire" Episode

This week's True Blood contains so many defined abs that I can't even start to count them. Actual developments include Jason finally escaping from the most awful situation in all of Louisiana, Sam getting in deep with his new love interest, the witches gaining power, and Eric being naked and still wonderfully sweet.

While this episode is really about setting up a lot of things, I'm excited about where those things are going. If you're ready to talk about this week's episode, just

Best Drunk Acting: Amnesiac Eric is maybe the most adorable character on TV, ever. Turns out that Claudine's fairy blood makes Eric behave like a drunk person, and after he pinches Sookie's butt repeatedly, he runs off to go swimming. Once the sun starts burning him, Sookie brings him home and takes care of him, but refuses to stay with him when he requests it. I would love to know what her willpower secret is, because I could never say no to that face.
Best eye candy scene: Alcide and Eric have a supernatural beings quarrel when Sookie enlists her werewolf bud to help find Eric, and the guys end up challenging each other while completely naked. My eyeballs fell out of my head. Is this the first time that we've seen two of the show's hot dudes shirtless in one scene? Either way, I wish I could talk more about Alcide's six-pack, but the image of him disrobing has made me dumb.
Most disturbing it-gets-worse-before-it-gets-better scenario: I feel like I can barely talk about Jason's were-rape situation, but we obviously have to address it. In the contest for the sickest tidbit, one were-lady says that raping Jason is the "best she's ever had," and a little girl, Becky, almost tries to get it on with the Hotshot prisoner. She ultimately ends up letting Jason free, who then varies between weakness and superhuman strength. He's on the verge of death, but he's still able to knock people out and spear panthers (good riddance, Felton). Does that mean he's turning into a werepanther already?
Worst Parental Support: Tommy finds his mom after she calls him up to allegedly check on him. After Melinda lies and says that she left Tommy's dad and Tommy brags about how Hooked on Phonics worked for him, Joe Lee appears and wraps a chain around Tommy's neck, most likely to use him for dogfighting again. Can nothing good happen to this dude?
Most obvious foreshadowing: Debbie Pelt is so going to go bad again. She might be trying to be good now, but she's simmering under the surface when Alcide talks about helping Sookie. Hey, I'd be jealous too if I'd seen that sexual-tension-filled hug he and Sookie share on her porch.
Most inconvenient pop-in: Sam tries to surprise his new flame Luna at her house, but he finds something she didn't mention before: her daughter, Emma. They get closer when Sam bonds with the little girl, but Luna admits to Sam that her werewolf ex is hostile and still keeps an eye on her.
Most awkward genealogy class: Bill meets with the grandmother of his new fling, Portia, and everything is going swimmingly - until they check out the Bellefleur family tree. Turns out that Bill is related to Portia, which makes their hook-up last week a whole lot more incesty.
Worst child development: The baby doll seems to be wreaking havoc on Terry and Arlene's household. We don't know who or what does it, but something writes a creepy message on the wall: "Baby not yours." I'm choosing to believe that it's not cutie baby Mikey who's evil, but that hideous doll.
Best deception: Sookie insists that Bill not search her house for Eric, but he pushes on. Her asking him "When have I ever lied to you?" changes his mind, and he calls off his search, but now Sookie has lied to Bill. I'd care more about the future of their relationship if I weren't so obsessed with Sookie and Eric getting together - and the kiss she had denied Eric moments earlier.
Most unexpected love connection: Thank the heavens that someone finds Jason when he's near death on the side of the road. It's even better and more intriguing that it's Hoyt and Jessica who find him, and that Jessica feeds Jason her blood to save him. We know that they'll be linked now, and Jason will soon start having erotic dreams about Jessica. Is everyone loving this as much as I am? I like Hoyt and all, but a Jason/Jessica connection is sort of awesome. Hey, anything beats the werepanther storyline for Jason.
Goriest spell: Pam confronts Marnie about what she did to Eric, and the witch - possessed by the spirit of a more powerful sorceress - casts a disgusting spell on Pam that turns her into a corpse. There hasn't been this much gore on the show this season yet, but Pam peeling off her own cheek rates pretty highly on my personal gross-out meter.

How To Get Angelina Jolie's Signature Makeup Look

Although Angelina Jolie's look used to be pretty eclectic, over the past few years she has toned down the wild child in her and her beauty has become very classic. Maybe it's motherhood, maybe it's love. Who knows, but something about her is glowing.

If you notice, she doesn't really wear a lot of makeup. She definitely tends to focus on her eyes and her lips, both of which are assets that always seem to score her on both male and female top ten hottie lists.

Her makeup artist, Matin Maulawizada, has some great insight into creating Angelina's look for yourself at home. For tips and product suggestions,

SKIN: Begin by smoothing a hydrating moisturizer such as Lierac Aqua D Moisturizer ($45) to the face and neck.
FACE: Next, use a sponge to apply a light layer of medium coverage oil-free foundation to the face. Matin favors Laura Mercier Foundation in Honey Beige ($40) on Angelina.
CONCEALER: To brighten up the eyes and cover any redness or broken capillaries, dab on an easily blendable concealer like Stila Cover Up Stick in Shade B ($18).
SET: For a flawless face, dust a little bit of Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil Powder ($19) (make sure it's totally translucent) over your face to set your makeup and create a matte finish.
CHEEKS: Go light on the cheeks with just a single strike of cream blush. I really like Fresh Cream Blush in Age of Innocence ($28). Apply to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards and outwards for a natural looking flush.
EYES: Here's the fun part! Angelina has been known to put this Guerlain Terracotta Loose Kohl Powder in Deep Charcoal Black ($32) on the radar of many a beauty junkie. She uses it all of the time for red carpet events. Apply in a thick line to the upper lids then smudge the outer corners for a smoky effect. Apply in a thinner line to the lower lids. For a more detailed explanation of how to create a heavily lined eye, click here. Apply a white shadow to the top of your lids and finish with two coats of lengthening mascara.
LIPS: Lastly, line lips lightly with a nude liner and then apply a creamy lipstick such as Lola Lip Cream in Cashmere ($20) - a chestnut brown color to the lips. Apply with a lip brush for optimum coverage.
