Last night we joined Gaga fans and fashion enthusiasts at the opening of Lady Gaga's Workshop at Barneys in NYC. Wearing a custom-made white tweed dress by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Gaga unveiled her 5,500-square-foot Workshop housing everything from Gaga-inspired sweet treats to accessories to even things for your home (hello, pearl-encrusted teacup!). As a guest in the store, you feel more like you've landed in Willy Wonka's factory - albeit with Gaga's signature flair - than a floor at Barneys. With rainbow-bright hues, technicolor sculptures, and candy displays, the place feels almost like Wonderland where we could have spent hours marveling at Gaga's collection and shopping the night away. That's just what celeb guests like Blake Lively, Brad Goreski, and Prabal Gurung did, making their way around the workshop and sipping cocktails at Lady Gaga's grand opening. We caught up with Blake, who aside from picking up a few Gaga goodies, revealed other items on her holiday wish list: "I've been going a little Chanel-crazy lately. Also Brunello Cucinelli, I just love his sweaters and his jackets - that's been my Fall splurge." Want to see more? Remember Santa's workshop? Well, this holiday season, Barneys is taking a spin off of the classic fairy-tale term with one of its own: Gaga's Workshop. That's right, the retailer is teaming up with Lady Gaga to create a holiday popup store - which will take up the whole fifth floor at the Madison Avenue flagship and in the store’s iconic windows - featuring all things Gaga, such as limited-edition gifts created by the star and Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti in addition to books, CDs, toys, accessories, makeup, and candy all curated by the eccentric performer herself. The gift selection is said to range from kids to adult categories, so there's something for every Gaga fan. Addionally, 25 percent of all sales from Gaga's Workshop will go to a charity of Lady Gaga’s choice.

Carine Roitfeld Announces Her First Project After Leaving Vogue Paris

After much speculation regarding who, what, or where Carine might be heading to after leaving Vogue Paris, Roitfeld has finally announced her next gig as a guest editor, muse, and stylist for Barneys New York's multifaceted Fall 2011 initiative. "For me, Barneys has always been the biggest name in luxury department stores, so to be able to participate in this project with them, and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true," said Roitfeld. "To a French girl, it's a big, big dream."

In addition to styling and editing Barneys's advertising campaign - which will be shot by her close colleague Mario Sorrenti - catalog, and Fall mailers, Roitfeld will play a part in styling Barneys's famous Madison Avenue windows, set to unveil in September. Barneys customers will also be treated with a short Sorrenti-shot film, showing them a more personal side of Roitfeld highlighting her views on fashion and style. "Barneys is about a sense of surprise and discovery, and Carine is a reminder that fashion needs a sense of the unexpected," said Mark Lee, Barneys CEO.
