Get a Healthy Glow: Highlighters

Ever wonder how celebrities all get that healthy, radiant glow? Most likely, it's because their makeup artist is using a face illuminator, like Benefit's High Beam and Moon Beam complexion highlighters. These products can be used as spot enhancers or blended all over your face for a glowing, sexy look. High Beam is a satiny pink shine, while women with olive or tan skin tones should opt for Moon Beam, which gives skin a more natural, golden-pink glow. Both cost $22 and are available here and here.

To apply highlighters such as Benefit's High Beam, use these simple tips:

First, be sure to pick the right color for your skin tone. Women with blue undertones should use a pinkish color like High Beam, and if your skin is more yellow, use a golden color.
With the nail polish-like brush, draw an X on the apple of each of cheek and beneath each brow.
Using your fingertips, blend the Xs in an upward and outward circular motion.
For an all-over dewy effect, try mixing just a dab of highlighter into your foundation or moisturizer.

What is it about Lip Gloss?

I don't know about you, but I have about a million tubes of lip gloss. At least one in every handbag I own, four or five in my makeup bag, one at my desk, two in the car, you get the idea. They are all pretty much the same color and I never seem to actually empty any of them, so why do I feel the need to buy a new one every week? In fact, this week I actually bought not one, but TWO!

Here are the two I bought this week:

Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother in "Gleam", $6.49

Her Glossiness Lip Gloss in "Who are you Wearing" from Benefit. First of all I love the color. In the tube it looks Hot Pink, but on your lips it's a more subtle cherry-pink color. The best part about it though is that it smells awesome, kind of like you want to eat it. According to Benefit Cosmetics:

These impossibly shiny glosses glide on smooth for A-list lips that will give everyone something to gossip about. The luxurious formula with jojoba oil makes your lips feel five-star pampered... as if they would expect anything less!

Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother in "Gleam." I admit that I was first attracted to the cute little tube that it comes in as I was browsing the cosmetics aisle at Walgreens. Also it has SPF 20 in it, which is good. I was also curious about the "Lip Soother" feature. I have to say I am quite pleased with this purchase as well. The color is nice, very subtle and it does give you a cooling sensation when applied. Almost like lip balm, but not as intense.
