After four years of research and development, the brand is premiering its first liquid foundation, and we got to be among the first to try it out. What We're Sweet On: A Soft Pink Glow

Getting the right amount of glow from blush is all about balance. Add too much, and you risk an unnatural disco-ball sheen. Too little, and the sought-after effect goes missing. Get it right, though, and you're rewarded with a flattering flush of color with a satiny finish. Applying luminizer underneath a cheek stain or sheer matte blush is one way to tip the scales in your favor, but Benefit's newest blush, Hervana ($28), is a one-step solution. Swirl the accompanying brush in its four hues, and they blend together to create a soft pink color with a satiny finish - especially pretty on very fair complexions. Hervana lands on counters next month, but today, Benefit is holding a one-day flash sale for those who just can't wait for their next face powder.

What We're Sweet On: False Lashes That Don't Lie

They give you that big, doe-eyed look without mascara, but they're not so flashy that anyone would look at them and go "Aha! Fake eyelashes." Plus, if you're sparing with the eyelash glue and take good care of them, you can use them several times. A good investment for nights when you need to look fiercely flirty.

I've long been a fan of Benefit Eyecon ($30), because it really does a good job of de-puffing and brightening up under eyes. Now though, it's being discontinued and Benefit is premiering a totally different set of skin care. The new line, B.right, has its own eye cream called It's Potent ($32). Since I have a jar of both creams, I decided to compare and see how the new product measures up. So should you be worried about finding a replacement for Eyecon? No, and here's why.

Benefit's New Eyeliner Is Pretty Magical

I was obsessed with dark brown liquid liner in high school. Years later, I've converted mostly to pencils, since I like subtle waterlining, but Benefit's new Magic Ink Liner ($20) is tempting me to switch teams again.

It's a highly pigmented black that doesn't gray out when it dries, I can waterline with it (although it does sting for a second), and it didn't flake at all, let alone smudge. The brush is also ultra tiny, which is good if you want more control or aren't used to liquid. So if you're tired of black liner that isn't really black, or you're done with the inevitable under eye smudges from pencils, Magic Ink comes highly recommended.

The invention of cream eye shadows has had a time-saving impact on my life. Not only are they easy to apply (you don't even need to use a brush), but depending on the color, they can also double as a highlighter. They're a cinch to travel with since they can't spill, and they typically dry to a nice, powdery finish. You used to have to tend to the creases every few hours, but now they've evolved into long-wearing, crease-free, stay-put-all-day formulas that hardly require any maintenance at all! Below are my top choices for cream eye shadows; what are yours?

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow ($19) has a light and creamy consistency that dries to a silky texture within 30 seconds. My favorite color is RSVP, a versatile, pale shimmery pinky-champagne that looks great alone for daytime and as a highlighter in the evening.
Lola Cosmetics SocialEyes Gel Eye Colour ($20) are creamy, waterproof shadows that can be worn as eyeliners too. They have medium pigmentation so they can be layered together or worn alone. My color of choice is a pale green patina called Tahiti.
Just for Redheads Dream Eye Shadow Flavors (on sale for $18) are some of the best blending cream shadows I've ever used. A little bit goes a long way to create shimmery, and rich velvety soft color. The must-have color to seek out is Souffle, a taupey, purplish-brown that looks amazing on all skin tones.
Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour ($22) is a waterproof, sheer and non-creasing cream shadow. My favorite color of the bunch is Rose Gold, a shimmery pinky brown that looks great alone, or blended with a deep brown or purple in the crease.
Nars Cream Eye Shadow ($21) has a soft cream-to-powder texture that dries quickly and blends easily. My favorite shade is Swing, a deep dark purple that looks great as a lid and crease shadow or as a liner.
