Behind the Seams: Bergdorf Goodman Welcomes Missoni's Fall Line

Last night, when the doors of Bergdorf Goodman in NYC were closed to customers, they were opened for Margherita Missoni and her friends. Actress Joy Bryant, Bergdorf Goodman women’s fashion director, Roopal Patel, and Mickey Boardman all celebrated Missoni's Fall '08 collection together.

Margherita looked more mature than ever in a peach dress and layered tribal necklaces. Missoni's floral and zigzag confections were shown off by two models, who circled the store, allowing upper-echelon customers to touch and observe. So, observe!

Bergdorf Goodman has provided us some juicy online shopping for a while now, but its new feature, Shop By Floor is a cool new way to shop the humongous department store. Modeled after the New York shop, each floor (Beauty Level up to 7th) provides luxurious goods for those who are in the market for splurging.

My favorite floors are the 2nd, which has a mega shoe salon, the 3rd, which stocks goods by Alexander McQueen, Derek Lam, Roberto Cavalli and the like, and the 6th, which houses sportswear collections and ready-to-wear. Find your favorite floor and the next time you go to Bergdorf in NYC, you'll know exactly where to go, just like a pro.

On Our Radar: Davi Skin Care

Though many of you lovely ladies are far too young to start thinking about wrinkles, I think it's never too early to prevent those wretched lines. After conducting some research with scientists at University of California, Davis, Winemaker Carlo Mondavi (he's super cute, but that's besides the point!), grandson of Robert of Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, discovered that fermented grapes from his family's vineyards are filled with antioxidants. So he created Davi skin care, which combines extracts of grapes and wine, along with green tea and other products that are good for smoothing out your skin.

Bergdorf Goodman sells the line for women and men, which includes face creams, toners, SPF lotions and purifying cleansers. Though it's a tad expensive ($50 for SPF lotion), money should be no object when looking out for your skin. After all, it's the skin you're going to be in for life so you better take care of it starting today!

One of my favorite things about the middle of July is all of the awesome sales that occur, both online and off. Summer isn't even half way over and the stores are already clearing their summer lines, just in time for my annual August vacation!

The Banana Republic Summer Sale happening now online and in-stores. BR switched to the semi-annual sale model about three years ago and it was an instant success. The deals you can find here are incredible, up to 60% off!
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started last week and runs through July 30. The cool thing about this sale is it is actually brand-spanking-new Fall merchandise instead of mid-summer leftovers! I actually hold a special place in my heart for this sale because my mom and I used to get up at the crack of dawn on the first day of the sale in order to be the very first people at the store. Toms Shoes Gets Luxurious

Toms Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie has been all around the world, but he's about to embark on a different, more luxurious adventure: he's launching an exclusive holiday collection at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman this week. "From a design perspective, we were trying to preserve the classic silhouette of Toms, but give an upgraded and exclusive version for the Neiman and Bergdorf customer," Mycoskie said.

Look out for high-quality fabrics like metallic linens for women and silk-tie for men. But just because they're more posh doesn't mean these styles aren't philanthropic. For every pair sold - prices range from $78 to $125 - the company will donate a new pair to a child in need.

Sneak Peek! Stella McCartney Intimates, Spring '10

Last Spring's Stella McCartney lingerie offering was colorful, but this time around, the designer is feeling softer with neutral pales, dusty pinks, and lavender. There are 15 groups, each with a cheeky name like Rosie Plotting, Eva Scampering, and Billie Twirling. "This season we looked at the '20s and '50s, which comes through the range in silhouette and specially developed embroidery and gold retro hardware," McCartney said. Look forward to prints like florals, feathers, and ladybugs, and fabrics like tulle, mesh, and silk crepe de chine. Prices range from $45 to $195 - the Spring '10 line will land at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and Bloomingdale’s.

Olsens Expand The Row Via Eyewear

Come Spring, you'll be able to purchase four styles of sunglasses retailing from $325 to $390: a metal aviator pair, vintage-style brow-line shades, an oversize square shape, and a '60s-inspired round frame. "We're testing the market first and obviously these are four very different silhouettes, so we're seeing what people are responding to and we'll open up a couple more silhouettes for Fall," Ashley Olsen said.
