Summer Shorts: It's Very Short

Call it what you will - a tap pant, bloomers, boy shorts - these shrunken, very sexy versions of the Summer short are here for Summer. When we saw it on the Spring runways of Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc, then Chanel, we wondered if that was something that would ever be seen in real life. Enter Poppy Delevigne, albeit a gorgeous model, but just go with it, wearing one of Chanel's unbelievably charming tap pant suits with a pair of flats. We think there should be a few rules for real-life-tap-pant wearing. Because they're so sexy, they should be paired with more modest items, like a billowy top (the proportions will look great) and always flat shoes or sandals. I was looking for cute Spring bottoms on ShopStyle, and after coming across a bunch of Marc Jacobs styles, it occurred to me: Marc is making some freaky bottoms these days! Skirts, bloomers, pants, shorts are all adorned with crazy ruffles, ethnic prints, and loud colors. Not anything I would come close to. There is something about a baby's bum that is beyond adorable. I could watch my tot's dimpled cheeks run around the house all day if it weren't for fear she would relieve herself on the carpet without warning. I usually put a diaper on her and for extra security, a pair of fancy pants.

n. Of Turkish origin. Traditionally, a waist to ankle undergarment, separated into pants and gathered at the ankle. Very popular in the 1920's. Amelia Bloomer introduced the Bloomer Dress in the 1870's. The style failed, but the name remained in reference to women's undergarments.
