Aqua is one of my favorite affordable brands at Bloomingdale's. It offers of-the-moment pieces that make you stand out but not go broke. They recently constructed a fabulous look book featuring 12 outfits made out of 10 must-have Aqua pieces. Online Sale Alert! Deep Discounts at Bloomie's

I much prefer walking around Bloomie's than perusing its online site, but I always make an exception for a sale. Its sale section currently houses designer clothing and accessories from 25 to 40 percent off. I can roll with that. What I dig about these J Brand Cut-Off Shorts ($106, originally $141) is the slightly longer cut. True, itty bitty shorts are hotter, but these are good for those times when you're feeling subtle (or for more professional matters).

Have You Purchased an Item From the Lauren Conrad Collection?

The numbers don't lie. Lauren Conrad's namesake collection is flying off the racks before stores can replenish their stock. The starlet, who recently held a Fall presentation collection at Bloomingdale's in NYC to a slew of fans, was delighted among all of her admirers. "I love meeting the customers and seeing what they buy," said Conrad. "I've learned a lot from them."

And to Bloomingdale's vice chairman Frank Doroff's surprise, the feeling is mutual. "We got it in and sold out immediately. We can't get the merchandise on the floor fast enough. It is, by far, the best-selling celebrity line we have. It's so much better than I thought it would be," said Doroff, who also mentioned that LC's leggings were the first to sell out. In the future, Conrad plans on adding handbags and accessories to her brand. But I want to know: Have you purchased anything from her collection?

Celebrity Style: Ally Hilfiger

Ally Hilfiger was looking free spirited and glamorous in a simple purple Chloe tank dress at a Jade Jagger-hosted launch party last night. She made the piece very much her own with layered hippie necklaces, sky-high gold gladiators, and a contrasting burgundy clutch. She works the jewel tone perfectly with her raven black hair and sun-kissed skin. Back to bohemia!

Fab Flash: Bloomingdale's and Theory's Spring Slacks

Theory and Bloomingdale's have collaborated to create a special line of slacks for Spring 2007. The collection consists of five different styles called: Odan, Dorika, Siobhan, Agota and Steven. Styles are: two pairs of wide leg pants with and without a cuff, a cigarette pant with a small slit on the side, a flat front trouser with no pockets in the back and a more classic straight leg pant.

This collection is being sold exclusively at Bloomingdale's stores beginning today and will end once all of the pieces are gone. They are available in four colors: black, nickel milange (grey), oat and coffee bean. Prices for each pair of pants range from $225 to $240.

So Very British, Driving Gloves

While driving in my Purple Haze Mini Cooper the other day I thought to myself: I would be cooler if I were sporting some driving gloves right now. I could be like Mod Squad blond vixen Emma Peel! Ok, it's official: I'm getting some. Originally, these accessories served a functional purpose, providing a better grip on the wheel for speed racers. Now they serve a functional and fashionable purpose, providing me with a better grip on looking cool while cruising town. As if it was possible, these would look even more fresh while complimenting a modern motorcycle jacket. As well, a light hued pair can carry over into Spring; Rodarte sent models down their runways wearing these cooler-than-thou gloves. Here are my picks.

10 Years In The Making: Bloomingdale's Finally Opens In SF!

It's here! It's finally here! The big event that San Francisco has been talking about for the past 10 years. Nope, not the next major earthquake, but the much-anticipated opening of Bloomingdale's in downtown San Francisco. I can't even tell you how exciting this is for me. I have literally heard the legend of the plans for a Bloomingdale's in San Francisco since I moved here six years ago. The project had been delayed so many times, people started to think it would never happen.

I was lucky enough to attend the pre-opening event yesterday morning. and I must say that it was worth the wait.

The gorgeous new store is five floors and 357,740 square feet of pure shopping paradise. The new SF flagship is now the second-largest Bloomingdale's in the country, second only to the original store on 59th and Lexington in New York.

Like its East Coast sister, San Francisco's version has polished black-and-white checkerboard marble floors and lacquered black-and-chrome decor. Many people were wondering how Bloomingdale's would differentiate itself from the Macy's flagship store, located just two blocks away, since Macy's and Bloomingdale's both belong to the Federated Department Store family. It is pretty clear from the moment you walk in the door, however, that this Bloomingdale's is not the traditional, for-the-masses behemoth that is Macy's. No, this Bloomingdale's is going after the high-end consumer market that Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue have served so well here in SF. What this means for us is that there are three beautiful floors of clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories from designers such as Marc Jacobs, Nanette Lepore, DVF, Chloe, Theory, BCBG, Rebecca Taylor. and many, many more! It is truly a delightful shopping experience. For those of you in the Bay Area, definitely check it out soon. For the rest of you, it's a must-see on your next trip to SF.

Fab Site: Bloomingdales.com Got a Facelift!

A long time web shopper, I have always been frustrated with Bloomingdales online. I never thought their site emulated the upscale look and selection Bloomies carries. To my surprise, the retailer has made an effort to refresh their face on the web. The new Bloomies has a black background, appears better organized than before, and has a more upscale allure. Check out the homepage:

They have joined other savvy retailers like Fab favorites Neiman Marcus and Net-a-Porter by drawing you in with a beautiful home page. New features include a Designer Spotlight (currently Tory Burch), The Trend Shop, and Spotlight On: Prom (where there are some great frocks!). You can then shop by Designers, Women, Shoes & Handbags, Beauty, Men, Home, Jewelry & Accessories, Kids, Sales & Values, Shop Catalogs, Bridal Registry and Gifts. The photography has improved too; it's not as catalogy and more high fashion.
