Dear Savvy,
My fiancé and I will be getting married next Spring and have chosen to save the money and time that it would take to have a wedding. He recently went through a foreclosure and we really would rather begin saving for our future. Instead, we will have his father marry us in front of 10 family members and will most likely go out to dinner afterward. Here is the problem - many of my friends have asked me if I'm registered. I am not, and have no idea if it is really a good idea since hardly anyone will be invited to the actual wedding. What is the etiquette in this kind of situation? I wouldn't want people guessing on a present if they choose to get us one, but I also think it would come of as rude to send an announcement for the registry but nothing about the wedding. Do we have to explain to everyone that we have just chosen to skip the wedding? Is there some tasteful way of announcing that there is no wedding but there is a registry? Please help.

Dear Savvy,
I just got engaged to the love of my life and I'm ecstatic! My ring is blinging and I adore it. It's everything I've ever hoped for and I never want to take it off. My best friend is hounding me to get ring insurance, but I'm worried about the cost because I don't have any extra funds. My fiancé saved up for a long time for the ring, and though I don't know how much he spent, he's admitted he wiped his savings. Can I wait a while until we have more cushion cash to get ring insurance, or should I get it now no matter the cost?

Cool Idea: Ring Box Place Card

From feathers to leaves to papercut numbers, there's so much opportunity for creativity when creating place cards for your wedding tables. It's these little details that truly make your reception a memorable event, so it's definitely a place to have fun!

I'm absolutely charmed with this idea of using ring boxes as place card holders from Nonpareil Magazine that was used in a To Catch a Thief-inspired wedding. Of course it ties in perfectly with the film's jewel robber theme, but it's also quite appropriate for weddings or engagement parties because the bride's two-carat Tiffany is always a focal point.

Depending on the size of your wedding, this design element could become a bit pricey though. So maybe it's best for an engagement dinner party or a bridal shower luncheon. What do you think? Do you like this idea?

My fiance and I are currently collecting our RSVP cards to our wedding. We're having just 100 people and already a handful of guests have replied plus one when they weren't invited with a date. My fiance is much more laid back than me and doesn't understand why I'm beyond irked and disappointed in our friends. Not only do I find it incredibly rude, it also puts a huge financial burden on my parents, who are paying for our wedding. We made the decision to have a small wedding from the get-go so how do we handle these unexpected, uninvited guests who think they will be attending our wedding?
