A new MAC Cosmetics collaboration is nigh, and this time around the star power behind the limited-edition line will be Carine Roitfeld, former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief and all-around fashion virtuoso. The makeup collection will focus on re-creating Carine's signature smoky eye look. There will also be products to help you achieve her go-to bold brows and neutral-toned lips. In terms of product names and packaging, Carine had a say in it all, so you can expect this project to be fully fashion forward.

The list of celebrity-backed MAC makeup lines continues to grow; already on the roll are Beth Ditto, Miss Piggy, and Lady Gaga. This announcement follows all the buzz about Carine's new fashion magazine, CR Fashion Book, out this September. After departing Vogue Paris in 2010, Carine Roitfeld is heading back into the magazine business with her very own, self-initialed, biannual publication called CR Fashion Book, launching in September. "The name's not a big surprise, but oh well," said Roitfeld, who described her new project as a "celebration of fashion and creativity." So what should you expect to see in CR Fashion Book? The first issue, priced at $10, will feature work from from a mix of well-known and up-and-coming photographers, writers, models, focusing on lengthier, book-like stories. "I hope people will want to keep it -trendy and timeless at the same time," said Roitfeld. Furthermore, CR Fashion Book will also feature an online component, comprised of teasers and updates for upcoming issues. In honor of the book, aptly titled Irreverent, Paris Fashion Week's style crowd gathered in a slew of velvet, Gothic gowns, ghoulishly deep eye makeup that went far beyond the smoky eye, and an array of tongue-and-cheek apparel that humored Roitfeld's theme perfectly. With Halloween right around the corner, we're feeling particularly inspired by the decadently devilish looks. Carine Roitfeld sat down with the Financial Times in a remarkably candid interview that touched upon her future plans - styling the Barneys Fall windows and catalog, her fallout with current French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt, Anna Wintour's "first lady" status, the thing she hates most in fashion (hint, it's a shoe style), and her doppelganger. Here's an amusing excerpt from the article:

"[Carine] hopes to "celebrate herself" by recruiting someone to be involved [in the Barneys' project] who looks rather a lot like her: Iggy Pop. “People always say, ‘You look like Iggy Pop,'" she says, apparently unconcerned by the comparison to a rather grizzled-looking, 64-year-old man. “I don’t know if it’s the eyes or the hair, anyway, he has a great style.”
