Cate Blanchett Helps Vogue Australia Celebrate 50

What better way for Vogue Australia to celebrate its big 5-0 than to have Cate Blanchett on its cover. Or rather, covers. The Aussie actress graces not one, but four, covers of the September issue, which is 360 pages. London-based illustrator David Downton drew all four stunning portraits. I thought Cate was stunning in photos but she's even better animated!

The highlights of the issue? A 10-page spread of swimsuits created exclusively for the edition by Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce and Gabbana, and more, and a 28-page editorial featuring Aussie models Catherine McNeil and Abbey Lee Kershaw. Sounds like a collectors item to me.

Get ready because I've got an action-packed lineup for you this week. I was feasting on a particular asymmetrical white Roland Mouret dress, Rihanna's endless transformations, and Cate Blanchett in sexy vintage red Ossie Clark. There are some familiar faces and some newbies who are simply stunning. What a stylish surprise it was to see Gwyneth in this radical metallic cutout Preen. I remember it from the Fall runway like it was yesterday. Thanks for bringing me back to that happy place G . . .

Trend Alert: Tortoise Shades

I have always been keen on tortoise shades. The marbleized brown and black has a cool retro flavor, and is less severe than black frames. It's the perfect grab-and-go-anywhere sunnie. When I spotted the always-fabulous Cate Blanchett in her tortoises in Perth, Australia, it cemented my love for the frame style. I'll take her shades, and a trip to Perth, please!

If you can't escape to la mar this Winter, escape via your wardrobe. Under the sea sequins are unexpected and mystical. There's something about a shimmer in a deep indigo, bright turquoise, or cool cerulean. Black sequins - been there, done that. These mermaids permeated the red carpets in the most beautiful of blues, Jennifer and Cate both in Balenciaga and Rachel in Derek Lam. Notice the varied shoe choices. Just because you're wearing an aquatic frock doesn't mean you can't wear some party shoes, too.

Two fabulous ladies, one gorgeous Chanel couture dress. Can you believe Cate Blanchett first wore this 2006 Chanel Fall couture dress in 2006 at the London premiere of Volver? Socialite Daphne Guinness recently resurrected the same dress and wore it at the Chanel couture collection show. Cate kept her look simple with black opaque tights and boots, while Daphne stepped it up a couple notches with a wide belt and chunky platforms. Whose version do you prefer?

Liquid Gold Cate Blanchett: Love It or Hate It?

While Harrison Ford and crew attended the NYC premiere, Cate Blanchett represented the cast of Indiana Jones in her country, Australia. I'm so used to seeing Cate in long, elegant Armani gowns that it's a bit strange seeing her in something so . . . disco. I love her shoes, but the dress is ill-fitting. What do you think?
