Help Clothes Keep Their Shape

I'm very intrigued by this new detergent called Cheer True Fit, which claims to help your clothes keep their shape. Having had to say goodbye to a fair share of overstretched jeans and misshapen t-shirts, I definitely see a high demand for this product. According to the Cheer web site, the detergent works using a friction-reducing lubricant, so that the fibers of your clothes glide against each other during washing. (As an added bonus, the new brand is also holding a sweepstakes to win a New York shopping spree.)

I plan to try this stuff just as soon as I finish my current jug of detergent, but if anyone has tried it, tell me what you think.

Celeb Style: Lindsay Price

Las Vegas got a touch of class over the weekend when Lindsay Price attended the opening of Laguna Champagne bar at the Palazzo. The actress slipped on an all-black uniform of lace top and miniskirt, cinched with a black belt. To top it all off is a multistrand chain ribbon necklace that highlights her look. Cheers, Lindsay!

A fun way to spice up your wardrobe: Throw a swap party! That's right. It's a cool way to get the girls together and jazz up your fashion closet . . . especially if you are on a Closet Organization mission - like me.

Send an email invitation in advance to all of your besties giving them time to collect their items. Serve some appetizers and a signature cocktail. Everyone gets a chance to display their collection. You'll be moments away from a new look. Why stop there? You can also swap beauty items and your favorite books; sharing is caring. Be sure to be the hostess with the mostess and add a little party bag to go. Sephora has everything a girl can need to go in her little purse. You'll be sure to make your friends feel special.

To set up a Swap Party:

Send an evite to your girlies in advance. To make sure you get the best swaps possible, you have to give your girls enough time to look through their closets. Try to send the invite 3-4 weeks in advance.

Set some ground rules. When you send out the Evite, make sure to be clear what is acceptable to bring and what isn't. Some people have never been to a swap party, so be clear. No personal items (undies are a no-no), no items with rips or stains that can't be easily corrected. You get the gist.

Set a minimum. Tell your girlies the minimum number of items they should bring. The goal is to have a nice selection so everyone goes home with a few items. 4-5 pieces are a good minimum.

Variety Variety Variety. No group of girls are all the same size. And thank gosh they're not - snooze. So make sure to tell your girlies to bring a variety of items - clothing, jewelry, handbags, belts, etc. That way you guarantee everyone goes home with something.

Pay it Forward. If you have items left over - and no one wants to claim them - no biggie, just drop them off at your local church or Goodwill. Someone out there needs it and will be grateful for it.

Let's be real: the holidays are an emotional time. Whether you're stressed, spirited, sad, or spent, there's one thing that always cheers me up even more. Shopping. That is, shopping for others with a little bit of me thrown in. This season there's sure to be a sale frenzy, so keep your wish list in mind to avoid postholiday debt. My mix includes two hot shoes, a textured mini, a couple cozies, and - of course - sequins. And, is this not the ultimate party dress? DvF strikes again. Happy times.

Gap and Nylon Fête Gap's New Soho Concept Store

The stars spread some holiday cheer last night at Gap's new 8,000-square-foot concept store in Soho. The always-adorable Becki Newton and Emmy Rossum stopped by and tried on scarves and hats. The City's Roxy Olin also made a cameo and left with a bag full of goodies. Good thing because 30 percent of of all purchases benefited Feeding America. There was live music, Christmas trees, candy canes, cozy sweaters, and lots of holiday love to go around.

Wish I'd been there. The Spike Scream Awards gathered the hottest and coolest of the scary genre Saturday night. Twilight fans had Taylor Lautner to scream at, True Blood lovers cheered on the award-winning show, Vampire Diaries newbies flaunted their stuff, and directors Quentin Tarantino and J.J. Abrams received recognition. Style mavens Kate Bosworth and Liv Tyler were even there. Lush leather, short skirts, and severe black dominated, but no one can ever upstage Johnny Depp's eclectic element. Check it out!
