With the Snow White and the Huntsman premiere and photocall world tour well under way, we're getting a glimpse of the leading ladies' chicest looks. For the film's first premiere in London, Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart both set the bar high in their respective sheer black gowns. Kristen made a jaw-dropping arrival in a black lace Marchesa gown with delicate embellishment and sheer paneling, while Charlize stepped onto the scene in a sultry Christian Dior confection, with a full sheer skirt and peekaboo bodice. For their latest appearances, the actresses took on two separate cities and styles - Kristen stepped out in a polished miniskirt and blazer, courtesy of Stella McCartney at the film's LA premiere, while Charlize opted for a fitted Lanvin sheath and cage Louboutin ankle boots while promoting the movie on the Today show. News just broke that Raf Simons will be replacing John Galliano at Dior. "The first time I heard about the Dior position," said Simons, "I thought, 'This feels right.'" It has been a little over a year since Dior fired John Galliano for making anti-Semitic remarks, and with it came rumors of his replacement, which included Marc Jacobs and Alber Elbaz. After seven years as Jil Sander's artistic director, Simons was replaced by the brand's founder earlier this year. Simons garnered high accolades for bringing a fresh, feminine quality to Jil Sander's minimal aesthetic, but his new post at Dior is sure to be a challenge. Most girls spend their childhood days dreaming of fairytale endings and prima ballerina flights of fancy. To this point, we imagine the Christian Dior Fall 2012 lineup brought to life so many of those diaphanous frocks and ballgowns conjured up in our heads. Creamy pinks and pastels, full-skirted silhouettes, and strong ballerina references - right down to the ankle-strap heels - punctuated the collection. There were silky knotted-at-the-nape dresses, super-cinched waists (belted, at that), tailored peplum tops with rich stone embroideries at the neckline, and an aprés-dance sweater-over-dress look cute enough to inspire us all to hit the barre. The equally feminine accessories - wide belts, opera-length leather gloves, luxe beanies, portfolio clutches, and pointe-shoe-inspired heels - provided a well-rounded polish to each frothy lilac, pink, and muted gray creation. Rich in cut and girlie proportions, the final gowns proved to be worthy of the princess-like ensembles that preceded them - both in red-carpet wearability and elegance.
