Paris Fashion Week is no stranger to the avant-garde. In the fashion capital, the crazier, the better. But some designers take the concept of fashion-forward to a whole new level. Comme des Garçons, Maison Martin Margiela, Manish Arora (who often provides costumes for Katy Perry), and Viktor & Rolf are some of the orchestrators who liven up the Parisian catwalks. Face paint, fuzzy helmets, and antlers (left) are just the tip of the iceberg. Let the kookiness begin.

Reminder: Comme des Garçons Hits Select H&M Stores Tomorrow!

Warning: It's going to get crazy. The Comme des Garçons for H&M collection arrives in US stores tomorrow - set your alarm! The madness started last Saturday in Japan as H&M unveiled the collection to eager fans. According to sources, people stood in line for days to ensure their place in line. Rei Kawakubo's avant garde offerings include boiled wool pea coats, harem pants, and polka dot cardigans. My eye is set on this distressed jacket. Stores open at 10 a.m.; see you in line!

On Our Radar: H&M Delves Into Fashion TV

You're probably already overwhelmed by your TiVo list, but what's one more show? When you have a few minutes, be sure to catch H&M's new Fashion TV. Currently there are two videos (it's a twice-monthly program). The first one is about the Comme des Garçons collaboration and it features model Missy Rayder (left) and The Sartorialist Scott Schuman. The second is a fun and useful knitwear style guide. You can also sign up to receive notification when new videos go live. Fab!

Fab Flash: Comme des Garçons For H&M

Years past have brought Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, and Roberto Cavalli to H&M, but 2008 is the year of Comme des Garçons.

Although no specific details have been released, head Comme designer Rei Kawakubo is expected to produce men's, women's, and children's collections for the fast-fashion chain, as well as a unisex fragrance. The collection, which will likely incorporate Rei's stark avant-garde aesthetic, has a planned debut in H&M stores worldwide in the beginning of November. This one should be interesting!

Modeling Takes Beauty . . . and Mad Skills

Who says models are all beauty and no brains? Okay, I can't vouch for their brains, but I can prove that they have some mad skills. Wearing what looks like a suffocating bag around your face and having to walk down a long runway takes precision. Many models trip, even without such an obstacle, so I give the models who walked the Junya Watanabe Fall '08 show in Paris some respect. It looks like Paris and London, namely the shows of Watanabe, Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, and Gareth Pugh, proved to be the most taxing for the models. Then again, signing on to work with such avant-garde designers, they probably expected a bit (okay, a lot) of craziness. Could you do it?

While I love Diane in high-octane fashion shoots, I love her equally on the street. Here she is smiling and running errands dressed down in jeans, boots, and bags. But let's dig deeper. Black and white stripes deliver a yummy nautical flavor, a shrunken light denim jacket feels fully familiar, a touch of icy lavender feminizes, and Balmain's black studded boots still make me swoon. A heather gray headband and A.P.C.'s Beads Bag ($210) are cool, casual touches.
