Rebecca Bloomwood's plaid ensemble might be one of her tamer choices of the bunch, but it's still oozing with quirky fun. Her Byron Lars plaid dress makes a loud statement on its own, but the stylista took it up a notch by accessorizing with a wide cinched belt, thigh-high socks, and platform pumps by Steve Madden Luxe. Personally, I would nix the socks and just wear the dress with flat boots. Who would have ever thought that plaid could look so polished?

Hands down, the dancing scene in Confessions of a Shopaholic was the most hilarious. I could hardly contain my laughter, but when I did, I noticed Rebecca's salsa-inspired outfit. It was perfect for Miami. While her boss Luke Brandon looked preppy in khakis and a chambray shirt, Rebecca played it sassy like her other ensembles. She wore a neon green Louis Vuitton top, white Vivienne Westwood skirt, topped with a Judith Leiber belt, and finished with lavender and turquoise Miu Miu platforms. As for the colorful fan in her hand? You'll have to watch and see how she uses it as a comical prop. I'm giggling just thinking about it!

I wasn't messing around when I said Rebecca Bloomwood loves color. But besides color, she also has a thing for layering. Just look - this outfit starts off with a black and white Vicki Tiel dress, followed by a black Givenchy eyelet jacket, cinched with a yellow belt. Yellow Christian Louboutin pumps, yellow leather gloves, red sunnies, and a kelly green metallic Nila Anthony bag make up her accessories. Let's not forget her Roberto Cavalli horn earrings and Versace gold medallion necklace. And finally, a vintage yellow coat pulls it all together. Phew! Can you tell Rebecca hearts yellow?!

Confessions of a Shopaholic just opened today - yay! As expected, the outfits were eclectic, exciting, and totally fabulous. In this particular scene - don't worry, no spoilers - Rebecca Bloomwood, aka Isla Fisher, showed off her appetite for delicious color. Her purple Lanvin confection is beyond sassy. I like how she added a kitschy touch to her ensemble by pairing it with light lavender fishnet tights. Yummy.

Confessions of a Styleaholic, Part II

You ready for more? I've already heard accolades about Confessions of a Shopaholic - out this Friday. I hope you read the first part of my interview with costume designer Patricia Field, and here's more!

Before we begin, want to know how Isla felt about working with the flame-haired stylist? At a press conference she dished: "Patricia was extremely collaborative, and I only had one request, which was that I wanted Becky to wear extremely high heels so she could totter. I think there’s nothing funnier than a comedic character tottering and the impracticality of wearing something that clearly doesn’t fit her and is uncomfortable but she’s a shopaholic so she has to have it. And Patricia really is so creative, and she clearly knows what she’s talking about. She’s extremely experienced. So I, I kind of let go and let her guide me, and I really enjoyed the process. At the beginning I couldn’t believe we were spending 40 minutes discussing a belt. I was so frustrated. But halfway through I just felt like I began to understand that there really is sort of a science to it. It is this incredible world of people trying really hard." What are Rebecca Bloomwood’s favorite stores to shop at?

"The designer stores but also downtown in small vintage shops. Uptown, downtown. She shops everywhere. She goes to the airport and shops in the duty-free. Every opportunity she gets."

What was it like working with Isla?

"Isla was fun because she got it and she likes clothes. She looks good in clothes; she got it intellectually. She understood it; she was great to work with. I can’t do it unless we understand each other. It’s definitely a dance. With Isla it was immediate. She was very involved. That’s very important for me. I’m dressing a person, not a mannequin."

She’s very tiny, she has long red hair - did you take that into consideration?

"I think redheads can wear any color."

What’s your advice to redheads who think they’re limited?

"Their limitation is in their own mind and my advice is to think of their red hair as a strawberry in a bowl of fruit. Blueberries, strawberries, oranges, apples, they’re all shades of reds and oranges. Does that bowl of fruit not look great together?"

What is your advice for shopaholics out there?

"Find a rich husband."

Can anyone be cured?

"I don’t think it’s an affliction as long as you can handle it. As long as you can handle it, do whatever makes you happy. Be responsible for what you’re doing and have a good time. Rebecca works it out in the end."

If you are a shopaholic and you’re trying to take a break (ahem), what are some key items you should have in your wardrobe? What can make someone feel like they’re always stylish?

"Have classics and buy new accessories. It’s with your accessories you can make a new look."

Was this wardrobe bigger than the SATC movie?

"I don’t think so. All the movies I do are voluminous. That’s my specialty: Volume fashion. Fashion by the tons."

Confessions of a Styleaholic, Part I

Costume designer Patricia Field delivers her style skills in yet another motion picture flick. After the wardrobe in the Sex and the City movie last year, it's safe to say Field left audiences wanting more. In Confessions of a Shopaholic, opening Friday, we'll get to see the fashion redemption of Rebecca Bloomwood and her accompanying wardrobe. Expect to see lots of color, belts, vintage, and smart mismatching. I had the chance to chat with Patricia about the movie, the clothes, and dressing cutie pie comic Isla Fisher.

On the subject of the heroine, when asked at a press junket for the film who her favorite designers are, Isla admitted, "I’d have to say I love Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Zac Posen. You know, I tend to go for more classic; I love Prada. I feel very blessed to wear any of those dresses." We can't wait to see what she wears to all the premieres, in the meantime, here's Patricia!

How would you describe Rebecca Bloomwood’s style?

"Rebecca is a shopaholic so her style would be volumes of clothing. A great assortment of clothing. Many colors. It’s a major assortment. I would say it’s eclectic, young, colorful, sexy, outspoken. It’s a bit ostentatious.
She could wear anything, vintage, new."

Would she wear lower-priced fashion brands? Like the Gap or H&M?

"I don’t think she’d wear the Gap. But she would definitely wear H&M."

Where did you shop for the role?

"I did a lot of shopping for her in Japan, which makes it better."

Why is it better?

"It’s much more evolved. It’s a bigger selection. It’s the Japanese culture to develop and perfect."

I saw a picture where she’s sitting in her closet and she looks sad because she has to clean out.

"The set was so involved with clothing, so many clothing sets. I had one of my assistants deal strictly with the clothing sets. They were gathering the clothing [to be used] for the sets, too."

Does RB have a huge closet then?

"Her room is her closet! Her room where she lives with her girlfriend. She lives in her closet."

What are some of Rebecca’s favorite brands that we see her in in the movie?

"She’s not a label queen. She sees something and loves it and gets it. She shops labels but I can’t say she’s a Prada girl. She has tons of clothes. She sees it and there’s an immediate emotional response. She would be the kind of girl who has 20 pairs of boots in every color and fabric. She’s a shopaholic, she shops every day, she can’t stop shopping. She has a massive amount of wardrobe."

Confessions of a Shopaholic hits theaters Feb. 13, but before we catch the flick, let's learn about the clothes. You've probably seen from the commercials that Bluefly makes a cameo in the movie. So it's fitting that the online retailer has dedicated a section of its site to help fans get Isla Fisher's character Rebecca Bloomwood's looks. But that's not all; stylist extraordinaire Patricia Field explains her logic behind a few of the outfits and shares fun facts. Fab-u-lous.

Trend Alert: Color Me Shady

Isla Fisher walks it when she talks it. Last weekend, at the Confessions of a Shopaholic press conference, she admitted, "The most fun fashion discovery was to use a lot of color in my wardrobe. I’m fairly conservative normally, and I just feel like Patricia Field brought out the color in me. I now love to wear color." From what I've seen, her character in the much-anticipated movie is color crazy, but yesterday in LA Isla was showing her adoration of blue. Her getup is straight-up adorable, but what I'm feasting on is her blue plastic sunnies -color me shady! What a way to fend off the Winter woes.

Sneak Peek! Confessions of a Shopaholic

Guess who I just got off the phone with?! My old friend Patricia Field. She did the wardrobe for the upcoming fashion flick Confessions of a Shopaholic. Look at this picture - does it not scream Patricia Field? The colors, the accessories - no wonder Rebecca Bloomwood is sulking having to clean out her closet.I remember when I spoke with her about the Sex and the City Movie wardrobe, she talked about the importance of vintage and breaking the fashion rules. Same mentality goes for this film, but this character, only one fashion-loving female, buys clothes every day, everywhere. She is, after all, a shopaholic. Patricia, who does "volume fashion," is the go-to costume designer for any fashion-heavy film, so we can't wait for this one. Plus, Isla Fisher is so adorable and freakin' hilarious - according to Patricia, Isla "just got it" when getting into the clothes and the clotheshorse character. Stay tuned for my exclusive interview with Patricia closer to the film release, Feb. 13. Hmm, the first day of New York Fashion Week, coincidence? . . .

It takes a seasoned stylista like Rebecca Bloomwood to pull off this perfectly mismatched ensemble. Underneath her orange plaid Jerold cape lies a complicated yet cunning outfit. On top, Rebecca layered on a purple Danny button-down body suit with a luxurious Vince cashmere sweater. Her bottom half consists of a cobalt blue Balenciaga skirt cinched in with a wide purple belt.
