Jessica Alba Goes Long For a Charitable Night With James Cameron

Jessica Alba rocked jeans and a black blazer while out running errands in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon, but she changed into a long, white Dolce & Gabanna gown by the evening to attend the annual Covenant House gala and dinner. She mingled with two of her favorite people, director James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis, at the philanthropic event, which raised funds to support the charity's work with homeless youth. Jessica even presented James and Suzy with a special award to recognize their activism on behalf of the organization. The night of good deeds was Jessica's latest red carpet event after she attended the CFDA Awards in NYC on Monday night. A less formal, but possibly more important event happened for Jessica on Tuesday, when she and her husband Cash Warren celebrated their daughter Honor's third birthday.

Kris Humphries responded to the split today, and in a statement said, "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."

It seems hard to believe that Kris would be unaware of his wife's plans considering all the recent rumors flying about their relationship. The CW premiered The Secret Circle this week, a new series about teenage witches. It stars Britt Robertson as Cassie, the new girl in town who discovers she's a descendant of witches and is invited to complete a coven made up of high schoolers. The show sets up a lot of mystery surrounding the back story behind the coven, and a menacing character who seems to be dead set on guarding it, but was it enough to pique your interest? Or perhaps you're more interested in seeing if the sparks between Cassie and Adam (Thomas Dekker) develop into something more serious? Either way, I want to know if you think you'll keep watching The Secret Circle.

Pilot Scoop: The Secret Circle

Tonight you can finally watch the premiere of The CW's drama The Secret Circle, the new series based on the novels of L.J. Smith (who also wrote its lead-in, The Vampire Diaries). The witch-centric new show is from Kevin Williamson and stars CW alum Britt Robertson, and if you're interested in checking it out tonight, make sure to read my pilot scoop below for a hint about whether it might be your new favorite show.

What it's about: When teenager Cassie (Britt Robertson) loses her mother to a fire, she moves in with her grandmother in her mom's hometown. A group of classmates takes an odd interest in her, and they quickly reveal why: Cassie is a witch, descended from one of the witch families in town, as are each of them. Cassie completes their coven, and they want her to join them so that they can get the full use of their powers.

Where it works: The pilot is deliciously creepy, thanks to a mysterious villain on the scene (Gale Harold). The show also does a good job of setting up an interesting story that seems to have a lot of potential. Plus it's great to see the endearing Robertson back on her own show after Life Unexpected was canceled.

Where it doesn't: This is a show about teen witches, so the camp factor has the possibility to be high. Some of the dialogue the characters use to set up the premise is pretty cheesy, but maybe it won't be so bad once the show establishes what it's about.

Am I hooked? Oh yeah. After just one episode, I wanted to know more about the town's rich witch history and the sinister characters.

Get to Know True Blood's New Characters

The wait for True Blood's season premiere is almost over, but when we pick back up in Bon Temps, we're not just going to be reunited with our favorite returning characters. There is a stable of fresh faces playing new characters in season four, all of whom will stir things up in one way or another, whether it's as villains, victims, or love interests. The series is already packed with vampires, werewolves, fairies, and now witches, so I put together a handy guide to get you acquainted with the new players before they hit season four. Check out who the newbies are, who's playing them, and why you might recognize them.

Marnie

The character: A palm reader who becomes possessed by a powerful witch and heads up the coven that's going to dominate Bon Temps this season.

5 Things We Already Know About True Blood Season Four

Are you aware that the True Blood season premiere is a mere month away? The excitement has been heating up, but it reached a boiling point with the recently released photos from season four. But I know what you want besides pictures and previews: details. So gathering what we can from the pics and promos from the upcoming season, I've put together a list of a few things that we can expect when season four starts.

1) Eric has lost his memory. We had a sneak peek of a scene of Eric stumbling around, and then Alexander Skarsgard confirmed at PaleyFest that Eric has amnesia. Sexy, confused Eric? Still hot.

2) Tommy is still alive. At the end of season three, we saw an angry Sam go after his brother Tommy and then shoot at him, but the finale ended on a cliffhanger. From this picture, we know he survived (or is dead and making an appearance as a ghost, but let's err on the side of optimism, shall we?). Since Tommy turned against Sam at the end of the season, I wonder if he's going to keep making trouble for his brother, or if he'll straighten out.

read more. 3) Witches have invaded Bon Temps. Fiona Shaw joins the season as witch Marnie, and we've also viewed a scene of Bill and Eric discussing the new coven of witches. It's looking like witches will be to season four what werewolves were to season three, so gas up your broomsticks. 4) Bill won the fight with the vampire queen. It was obvious Bill would survive the fight he picked with Queen Sophie-Anne, because he's Bill, duh. And unless they went back on their agreement that the brawl was "to the death," then we have a great, bloody battle to look forward to in the season premiere. But will Sophie make it out alive? And if she doesn't, with Russell also gone, who's going to be the next big bad vampire leader? 5) Sam will get a new love interest. The sensitive shapeshifter has the worst luck when it comes to love (like a lot of people on this show), but this season, he may get to be happy for a while. His new sweetie is Luna, played by Janina Gavankar, though their bliss may be short-lived. As you can see from this clip, she's got some baggage in the form of a werewolf ex. Of course, there will be so much more to look forward to in the fourth season. I can't wait to see where Sookie's romantic life goes, now that she's a swingin' single after kicking Bill to the curb (I'm split between Eric and Alcide). Plus, there are more than a few cliffhangers to be resolved, like Jason's new role as leader in the werepanther community of Hotshot, or what's up with the creepy baby doll in Jessica and Hoyt's new house.
