Deriving inspiration from craftsmen - mechanics, cobblers, and (much more obviously) leathermen, Cynthia Rowley's own Fall craftsmanship honed in on these artists with a succinctly modern and much sportier interpretation. Save for denim on denim suiting or brilliant colored leather, there's not too much literal interpretation, but rather a cool collection of womanly, curve-conscious design married with menswear-inspired structure. We're treated to bold all-over prints washed over body-skimming sheaths, skinny pants, and even gloves. And while a tougher, boxier leather jacket lined in shearling might pinpoint Rowley's craftsmen influences, what takes shape is still definitively for the girls.

With gold embellishments and garden-party-inspired prints, Cynthia Rowley's set the tone for a beautifully femme and still entirely modern Spring 2012. Models hit the mirrored, metallic runway in a contrast of botanical prints on slim-fit pants and waist-cinching jackets and blazers, while LBDs and knits got a dose of the same gold accents that Rowley echoed again and again on shoes, soccer-inspired patchwork bags, and even gilded shorts. Rowley delivered a collection that manages to be equal parts sophisticate and cool girl - statement pieces in all-over florals that get a chicer edge thanks to sharp tailoring and a perfect palette.

Yesterday morning I had the chance to video chat with fashion designer Cynthia Rowley, who recently partnered with Gretchen Schauffler, the founder of paint company Devine Color. Rowley has curated a palette of 10 paint colors inspired by the looks she showed in the Fall 2011 collection.

Describing the palette, Rowley explained, "Whether it's on the runway or in my home, for me great design begins with great colors. Next season is all about vivid hues and rich shades and I have selected 10 fabulous hues from Devine that really speak to the power of color to brighten our moods and transform our lives."

Cynthia Rowley showed her Fall 2011 to a crowd of fans last night which included Julia Stiles (donning an awesome cobalt dress), Lauren Bush, and Alan Cumming. Star studded indeed, and her collection was just as shiny as models walked down the runway wearing glittery sweaters, sequined jackets, Asian-inspired floral prints, and graphic patterns. There was something for every personality: polished intarsia knit dresses for ladies who lunch, along with funkier pieces - our faves of the night - comprised of shearling blazers, loose graphic gowns, and even a slick velvet suit.

Trends: Shimmery sweaters, velvet suiting, Asian-inspired prints, graphic patterns, intarsia knits.
Colors: Mustard yellow, steel gray, olive, kelly green, deep blue, emerald.
