I can only imagine how nervous designer Deborah Lloyd must be feeling. Her first full collection for Kate Spade was unveiled and you know everyone is judging it with an editor's eye; I'm no exception. The designer said she played with scale and color but kept the DNA of Kate Spade consistent.

Former Banana Republic executive vice president of product design and development Deborah Lloyd (pictured right) has been named creative director and co-president of Kate Spade. If you recall, Kate and Andy Spade stepped down from their namesake brand in July. Prior to Banana Republic, Lloyd, whose expertise is rooted in sportswear, worked as vice president of design for Burberry London for five years.

Under the direction of new creative director and co-president Deborah Lloyd, look forward to a hefty crop of apparel from Kate Spade. After an initial launch exclusively in Kate Spade stores next Spring, the clothing collection will be available for wholesale in the Fall of 2009.
The full Spring collection, which is boasted by Lloyd to have more apparel than ever before, will sell at retailers including Saks, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.
