Glowing Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain Have a Help Reunion at TIFF Kate Spade Party

Bryce Dallas Howard hosted a cocktail party for kate spade New York in Toronto last night. Bryce is the face of their handbag collection and was decked out in a custom-made chambray shirtdress and bright pink necklace from kate spade, which matched the walls at The Harbourd Room. Bryce's costar from The Help Jessica Chastain swung through the soiree to say hello and catch up for a moment before heading off to her next TIFF bash. The redheads, whose movie The Help has had huge box office success, posed for photos and shared a few laughs as Bryce sipped on a mocktail. Bryce was also joined by her good friend Jason Lew, who wrote Restless, the film that BDH produced which helped kick off the festival with a big red carpet premiere on Thursday. Bryce is expecting her second child with husband Seth Gabel, though he couldn't come along to the festival since he's currently on the other side of Canada working on Fringe in Vancouver. Bryce has two projects at TIFF, the other being cancer comedy 50/50 with Joseph Gordon Levitt, Anna Kendrick, and Seth Rogen, which debuts early next week.

I can only imagine how nervous designer Deborah Lloyd must be feeling. Her first full collection for Kate Spade was unveiled and you know everyone is judging it with an editor's eye; I'm no exception. The designer said she played with scale and color but kept the DNA of Kate Spade consistent. It's important to note that Lloyd has showcased a holiday and resort collection, as well as some ready-to-wear pieces (left), all at the same time. I'm not crazy about the holiday and classic bags, but the whimsical shoes and jewel tones dresses are Fab. Does Lloyd's collection pass your test?

Fab Flash: Kate Spade Gets New Creative Director

Former Banana Republic executive vice president of product design and development Deborah Lloyd (pictured right) has been named creative director and co-president of Kate Spade. If you recall, Kate and Andy Spade stepped down from their namesake brand in July. Prior to Banana Republic, Lloyd, whose expertise is rooted in sportswear, worked as vice president of design for Burberry London for five years. This all goes hand in hand with a plan to expand the brand's product categories, which will eventually include apparel.

Parent Liz Claiborne Inc. chief executive officer William L. McComb (pictured left) revealed that Spade is currently focused on correcting its handbags, footwear and small leather goods between Fall 2008 and Fall 2009. Lloyd could decide to launch additional categories such as jewelry by Fall 2009 and apparel by Spring 2010. We look forward to it!

Kate Spade Enlists Current/Elliott For Capsule Handbag Collection

Kate Spade is continuing its street-chic streak with an upcoming handbag collaboration with Current/Elliott denim darlings, Emily Current and Meritt Elliott. The six-piece capsule line, dubbed The Westward by Emily and Meritt for Kate Spade New York, will range from $245 to $1,295, and is set to feature pieces like this chestnut brown satchel bag with ostrich-print detailing. “They have such a great spirit and epitomize the chic, West Coast vibe," said Kate Spade’s president and creative director, Deborah Lloyd. "This collaboration really was about our girl stepping out of her normal comfort zone and hitting the road.”
